“Really, Jupiter?  You gotta retrograde, too?”   Let’s talk details.  Jupiter is considered an outer planet.  It is outside the asteroid belt and is classified a gas planet, which is the key differences between inner and outer planets.   Jupiter spends ONE year in a sign and therefore takes twelve years to go through the zodiac.  On June 9^th Jupiter entered Cancer, it was last here in 2013-2014 (June to July) and earlier 2001-2002 (July – Aug).     You may want to consider what was going on in your life at those times and if there are any similar themes speaking to you now.  

Of course, once a year Jupiter retrogrades for about five months and on November 11 Jupiter will station retrograde and travel from 25 back to 15 degrees of Cancer.   For those folks who have planets between these degrees of Aries, Cancer, Libra and Capricorn you will feel the influence of Jupiter.   Watch out if you are being too big in endeavors, commitments, emotions and opinions.   Jupiter in all his gassy-ness can pump-anything-up.   In Cancer there is an accent on emotions and family and feeling the need to be ‘secure’ as defined by the individual.   Some of those big emotions might have legitimate reasons.  However, the answer or remedy could benefit by a calm, quiet response.   During this retrograde we will be processing our emotions and our opinions (including but not limited to, our opinions of our emotions).  If you know your chart look at the house with Cancer and see what themes feel “big”.     Once the retrograde concludes in March we could feel more resolved.

 Here we are at the final Mercury retrograde of the year.   You know the rules.  Slow down.    Double check your work.   Plan more time to get anywhere.  

Mercury is not just in one sign on this retrograde, it straddles two: Sagittarius & Scorpio. 

When Mercury is in Sagittarius the emphasis is on travel, big ideas, things that are foreign, debates, philosophy and upper education.  Mercury is in its detriment in the sign Sagittarius which means the nature of the sign rubs up against the nature of the planet.  Mercury likes speed, rationality, getting the facts, clarity; a basic solve the problem and move on approach.  Sag is always looking beyond data and seeks wisdom and the bigger picture.   Sag can take one fact and see many ideas in it and ponder them all.   Mercury just wants to move on.  During the retrograde when Mercury is in Sag, our opinions and thoughts can go long.  There could be a helluva lot of debates on anything from where to have dinner to the nature of the universe.    Finding the bigger picture to everything is fine, but when Mercury is retrograde it could be hard getting our tasks done, like arriving at the airport on time.   Especially with Mercury in long winded Sag.  Also during the Sag retro you may want to watch the judgy tone. Just sayin’.  

When Mercury is in Scorpio the thinking is deep and probing.  Uncovering facts and motives is game on for Scorpio.  Mercury retrograde can bring out bumps, perhaps stuff we missed a few weeks ago when Mercury was in Scorpio before the retrograde.  How was our thinking intense then and how are we revisiting it now?  Did our communication get dark?  Were we aware of patterns which focused on victims and perpetrators?  Did master controllers get our attention?  Was criminal behavior from thug on the street to corporate scandals in the news and in our brains?  Then and now we could be exploring conversations around lawsuits, taxes and sexuality.  During the retrograde return to Scorpio we may uncover more issues in those matters that bring additional insights.    

As I mentioned in an earlier post this Mercury retrograde is going to be informing all of us each time it connects through aspect with the outer planets AND it will do it three times between October 24 and December 13.   If something comes up around any of those dates, we may see a repeat at the other exact dates.  Not necessarily the exact same situation but the theme may repeat both in world news and personal lives.

This is going to be quite a retrograde and when it ends on November 29^th, we will no doubt thank everything that is holy that it has ended.  By the time we get to December 17 when Mercury clears the shadow we will all feel lighter and ready to wrap up the year and head to 2026.

Taurus Full Moon — Finding Ground in the Astro Waves

We are amid planetary tides, swept by waves of change. On November 6, Venus enters Scorpio. The next day, November 7, Uranus returns to Taurus to work through its final lessons before moving into Gemini next April. On November 9, Mercury stations retrograde in Sagittarius, followed by Jupiter stationing retrograde in Cancer on the 11th. And on the 4th—just before the full moon—a sharp aspect between Mars and Uranus stirs swift action, unpredictable reactions, and a surge of intense conversations and big media.

In the midst of all this cosmic movement, the full moon lands on November 5 in Taurus, one of the most grounded and practical signs of the zodiac.

This full moon invites stability. Where do we go to find our center? What happens when we put practicality first? How do we look when we lean into patience? How do things improve when we take a methodical approach? These are the guiding questions of every Taurus full moon.

This year, the condition of Venus—Taurus’ ruling planet—adds complexity. Venus is in dialogue with Neptune, Uranus, and Pluto, but none seem to understand her. Neptune feels lost, yearning for humanity; Uranus craves fresh innovation; Pluto demands transformation, insisting that old thoughts must die for the new to emerge. To Neptune, Venus seems shallow; to Uranus, she’s too eager to please; to Pluto, she appears resistant to change. Yet the Taurus moon lends Venus a gift: the grounding power of practicality.

If you’ve ever stepped on the scale with your eyes closed, knowing you might not like the number—and then confirmed your suspicion—or checked your bank account only to realize an unprocessed check made your balance less rosy than it appeared, you know the feeling. Blech. But there’s freedom in facing reality: “Okay, this is where I am. Now I know what I need to do.” That’s the gift of this full moon: clarity. Something may surface that shifts your understanding. Reality asserts itself. The question becomes—what do you do with it?

This full moon also lands midway through the Libra lunar cycle, a time focused on relationships and relating. So, how do we show up when reality hits? Do we get snippy or demanding? Are we being realistic about others—or expecting too much or too little? The Taurus full moon can expose insecurities. Where do we feel “less than”? How do we mask that feeling? Are we numbing ourselves through overindulgence, or getting stuck and stubborn out of fear?

Remember: Uranus and Pluto push for change and evolution, while Neptune dissolves reality and pushes dreams. As these forces swirl, the Taurus moon reminds us to recognize what is working. Find the good. Find gratitude. From that stable foundation, we can build more of it.

When I was a kid at the ocean, I loved standing in the surf, watching waves break and retreat. As the water rushed past, it felt like I was moving—but I wasn’t. The motion was an illusion. Instead, the sand gathered around my feet, then my ankles, then my legs, anchoring me more against the pull of the tide.

That’s the image this Taurus full moon brings: gather the sands of good. Find your inner security. From that grounded place, you won’t be swept out to sea.

November 2 - 7 Astrology Landscape -Gibbous & Full Moon

 

How have you been experiencing this Libra lunar month?   We are ten days into the 29-day lunar cycle.  How are your relationship skills?   How are you finding your balance?  How are you figuring out your ability to negotiate?    Gibbous phase is connected to Pisces which gives us an opportunity to refine matters of faith/spirituality/mystical.  Do those matters speak to how we relate to others?   On November 4 Mars moves into Sagittarius and will make contact for the first time to Uranus in Gemini.  The opposition is rife with instability, anger and a ton of opinions with additional patina of juiced up rhetoric.  So, there is that.  

On November 5 the Full Moon in Taurus launches.   How do you find practicality in the middle of navigating relationships?     Lots to process.    I will put up the Full Moon post in a day or two.  

On November 7 Uranus returns to Taurus where it will be until April 25.   We began this long ass journey in 2018 and it has been a thing.  For sure.  Uranus is the planet that wakes up every day to 'mix it up' is heading back to sure and steady Taurus to do one more round of signifcant innovations that will have practical applications.   What?  Where?  Who?  Unclear.   But we will know it when we see it.

How are you refining your faith?  How are you refining spirit?  How are you refining synchronistic moments?     How are you finding balance in matters of faith?

11/2: Venus square Jupiter (25 CA).  Pitting relationship against family serves who?  Big emotions that are not fair bring more out of balance to the situation.  Who is that serving?  

11/3: Mars trine Neptune (29 PI) Actions based on intuition and spirituality will shine a light and help humanity.  

11/4: Mars enter Sagittarius.  A month of big action.   Act like you are the dean of the most prestigious school in the land.  Do this for six weeks.  And for sure go on some trips.  

11/4: Mars oppose Uranus (00 GE)-potent aspect these two planets will bring a lot of action and energy that will bump into weird and quixotic.   This is new information since Uranus is at ZERO Gemini.  Watch the news for weird stories.

Full Moon:  We make the needed adjustments on the things we planted. Usually, emotions are up and running and for those people who perhaps did not utilize the new moon and the rest of the waxing moon, this is when emotions can get the better of us. There can often be a big emotional break, for no other reason than to get back on track.   Some partnership will offer up some balance.  The moon is bright and full and there is no room for shadows, what is reflecting on you?

Uranus re-enters Taurus

On July 7, Uranus entered Gemini and marked the final ingress into a new sign by an outer planet.   Within eight months Pluto, Neptune, Saturn and Jupiter had moved into new signs, then Uranus plugged into fresh Gemini.   It was extraordinary spring and summer and we experienced something that normally does not happen.  In fact, the last time all these major planets ingress into new signs within months of each other year was the1730s.    Again, we are experiencing the rare astrological stuff.    When can we just do normal again?   

 

Anyway, Uranus went into Gemini in July signaling a time of innovation around technology.  Uranus made sure he got our attention in his new sign Gemini right away via Jumbotron at a Coldplay concert.   Big brother is watching, well not big brother but some gal in New Jersey who posted it on TikTok and had a million views before she woke up the next day.  Lord help us with Uranus in Gemini.   Anyway, Uranus like Neptune is going backwards.  In 2018 Uranus entered Taurus.   Now it is leaving Gemini on November 7 and going back to Taurus where it will be until April 25.  Once it leaves Taurus it won’t be back for 80 years.  This is its last stop where it can get as much as it can in slow and methodical Taurus.  For a point of reference, in 1941, which is the last era of these signs ping-ponging, Uranus retrograded back to Taurus in September having recently entered Gemini.  It stayed in its final days in Taurus from September 1941 until May 1942.    Obviously, to those who know history, this window was significant because the United States entered WWII with the bombing of Pearl Harbor in December of 1941.  In that retrograde (facilitated by the War) new technology appeared including, Radar, Atomic Bomb Research, Synthetic Rubber and mass production of Penicillin.    That’s a lot of practical new.   

 

What will we get between now and April?   Unclear.  But we might get some insights when Uranus and Neptune form their second connection this cycle. 

October 26 - November 1. Crescent & First Quarter Phases.

 

We are still in Crescent phase with the emphasis on receiving information.   This phase is focused on what we learn when we go out of our normal routines and expand our encounters.    People and places that are not ‘regular’ to our usual days will inform us about how we relate and do relationships.     Do we judge a book by a cover?   Do we ask pertinent questions?  Do we race to tell our ‘story’ or ‘pov’ and miss what the other person is saying?  Or do others do that to us?  

 

Then on the 29^th we move into First Quarter Phase, and we act on anything we started on new moon.   What’s the next step that needs action?  How does it impact your ‘relating’ to others?  In this case how are you relating with groups and friends?   

 

Also on October 29, Mercury opposes Uranus for the first time since Uranus entered the sign Gemini.   Things could be off the wall.  Weird conversations for sure.  A lot of big noise around breakdowns, breakthroughs and break outs.    Try to play well, if you can with siblings and neighbors.   On Nov 1, emotions and creativity could feel ‘not enough’.  Go online and read about co-dependency.  Is that in the mix?   There is a chance for some healing.

Focus on: What are you learning about things/people/experiences that are ‘foreign’?  What are learning when you broaden your world and your experiences?   What are you learning when you go over ‘there’?

First quarter: We do more actions based on the information that we just received.  Or we feel our instincts guide us on something.  We pursue again. What hurdles have popped up involving the seeds you planted on new moon?    We make another call, or we see someone. We mail something.  We stir the pot again.  This can be a time when we realize that the goals, we planted on new need more action from us, perhaps actions that involve breaking away.   Are there people who say they have our best interest in heart but fear us growing away from them?  Maybe we need to get help from others not the usual suspects.  Some independence may need to be exerted.   

 

 

Focus on:   What actions are you taking with your groups?  What actions are you taking with your friends?   How are you finding balance?   Have you been in the background and now you are out front?  Have you been out in the front and now you are drifting in the background?   Is one group louder than others?  Is one group quieter than others? How are you tapping the different energies?

In an earlier post I mentioned that the upcoming Mercury retrograde will be informative because in a six-week period, Mercury aspects all the outer planets three times.   We are going to learn a lot in world, and we should be prepared for crazy big news stories.   Especially during the Mercury in Sagittarius part of the retrograde.     Our personal lives (especially for people who have planets impacted by early Sag and late Scorpio) will be caught up in loud, strident, perhaps super opinionated moments or people during the Sag Mercury.   And during Mercury in Scorpio, discussions that are penetrating, investigative, strategic and speak to the root of the matter, maybe a bit scary in their depth, however can be transformative.  ... If you are up for it.  There is an element of ‘Go-Big-Or-Go-Home’ and “Take-No-Hostages’ to this Mercury retrograde, which can take some navigating.  

 

Above you will see a diagram I made that explains a Mercury retrograde.    The blue line is Mercury moving forward after it crosses its first shadow point.    The red line is when Mercury is retrograde, and the green is when Mercury has completed its retrograde and is now going forward again.   

 

On October 21, Mercury crossed the first shadow point.     Then on November 9 it will turn retrograde, on  Nov 29 it straightens out and then on Dec 17 it exits the second shadow point and goes on its merry way.   

 

Since we are now in the first shadow, we should take note anything that comes up because we may be visiting those topics again.   

 

I know in my case, I bumped into a few things, had a couple things break.  I thought, “Oh, that dang shadow.”   If anything comes up for you that gets your attention or breaks, remember the one antidote to Mercury retrograde is to SLOW DOWN.   I know I will plan way more time to get anywhere, do anything and if there are hurdles or bumps, I will take a breath and if possible, tap my inner patience goddess.

Mercury Is Our Scout - Oct 24 - Dec 13

We learn the most about an outer planet in a sign when an inner planet makes an aspect with it.   It is almost as if that inner planet says, “Hey, everybody, I’ll take a hit for the team.  I’ll and go get into it with the outer planet and we'll see what it is about in this sign.”   

 

Such is the case with Mercury who is interacting with the outer planets for the next two months. 

Mercury is in Scorpio which means he is talking to Jupiter in Cancer then Saturn and Neptune in Pisces.   Then when Mercury goes into Sagittarius he talks to Uranus and Pluto.    But that is not all.     When Mercury retrogrades (Nov 9), he talks to all those planets again and then when he stations direct, he talks to them for a third time.   He is our best scout between October 24 December 13.    We are going to get a ton of information about all these planets from busy body Mercury.      I consider this upcoming Mercury retrograde a gift of information that will help us down the road.

Libra New Moon

Yesterday (Oct 21) the Libra New Moon launched.   Remember, we had two Virgo lunar months this year so that was a lot of Virgo-ing which stall our Libra-ing.   Now we are here for the Libra 29-Day lunar month.   We are focused on the business of relating.  How is that going, folks?   

Today Neptune returns to Pisces where it will be for its final four months until it re-enters Aries and does that journey for fourteen years.   We will have a lot to learn on these final leg of Piscean journey.    Yes, we can learn in the middle of fuzziness for one more time.      

On the 24th we have  the first Scorpio Sun square Pluto in Aquarius.   There is an argument to be made that this can speak to covert activities since Scorpio and Pluto do not show their cards.  However the Sun is not shy and Aquarius demands crowd input.   Watch the news for a big power move or diaster either manmade or natural.   Lot of tension is needing a release valve.  Also on the 24, we get the first of very nice aspect between Mercury and Jupiter.   Conversations flow, brain is on, although, make sure to curb any exaggeration.   Leave your hyperbole at the door.  

As for the first three days of the new phase, plant seeds, observe and ask questions related to new moon sign.   With Libra:

This focus:    What do we look like in our relationships?  How do we behave with this person or that person?  Is it all in sync with our inner compass?   How do we give our partners air to be who they need to be?  Do we give people space to be authentic?   How can we tap our diplomatic powers?   Can we find our inner nice?

Crescent:  We will receive information, we will research a bit more, perhaps get feedback on stuff that we planted on new.  Perhaps get some information that will help down the road on a seed we planted a while ago.  We can collect some data now.  Even if you think you are not getting information, stop, and re-look at everything.  Who called you?  Even the silliest things when they come up during Crescent are noteworthy.  A parking ticket.  An argument with a spouse?  A refund check from the phone company?  No matter how mundane it arrives, consider it as message.  How can this information help you?

 

Focus on: What are you learning about things/people/experiences that are ‘foreign’?  What are learning when you broaden your world and your experiences?   What are you learning when you go over ‘there’?
