Happy Solstice - June 20, 2025 - 7:45pm PDT

In the northern hemisphere, the Sun entered Cancer on June 20, 2025 at 7:45pm PDT launching summer and winter in the southern hemisphere.  Spring and fall are over.     The chart for the solstice has the sun conjunction Jupiter which just rolled into Cancer ten days ago.    This chart gives us a good idea of the tone for the season.   Jupiter on the sun suggests a desire to grow and expand.   There is a desire to be jovial and find what makes us cozy.   Cancer connects us to feelings.   With Jupiter, our philosophy dictates our emotions (Sun) this season.   Jupiter reminds us that changing our approach can change our reactions.   At this same time there is tension since these two are in square aspect to Neptune and Saturn at 2 and 1 degrees of Aries which are exact on June 22 and 23.   All of them are pulling on us.

Imagine a car.   In the front seat is the Sun behind the wheel, Jupiter in the passenger seat and in the back is Saturn and Neptune.   All four are yelling about where to go.    Saturn and Neptune want to get off the highway and go on a whole new independent journey.   Saturn is interested in a toll road that might cost but the trip could be rewarding by the end even if we have to pay along the way.    Neptune is using dreams and intuition and wants to figure out which road through its vibing.   Jupiter on one hand can appreciate the gut/vibe that Neptune is talking about but at the same time Jupiter has opinions about the how much the car can take and the terrain.   Jupiter also looks at the sky and wonders if the tires are up for any rain.  The sun is concerned about the fuel, mileage and fluids.   They each have their own motivations  but all four know that they need to get somewhere new and they all have their own super power on how to get there.   There could be some tumult along the way but as cardinal signs they are good to use the tension to get where they need to get.

While this example speaks to travel and 'going' and true, some people may be planning a move since a  home change can come with Jupiter/Sun in Cancer.    But these aspects also speak to an internal change in  motivation.    Those people who seem to be spending their days rushing from here or there may become aware it is time to take a break.  Do less.   Those people who aren't accomplishing the tasks they need for various reasons may make changes in their habits to have more self agency.    In general, we need to take care of self this season and tune into our road.   We may not hit our destination but the roads we choose will impact where we land.  Every day this season will be filled with choices.   This is true every season but the choices will be more on our awareness especially in a few weeks when Uranus moves into Gemini.      There is lots of planetary action ahead which I wrote about last week.   We are good for it, because we all signed up for it but remember, don't forget to use the rest stops.

Happy solstice.

S J Anderson on the summer of 2025

I think some of you might be interested in S J Anderson's take on the aspects for Summer of 2025.    I posted my own list of the summer aspects and write up.  But it is good to hear other astrologers point of view and I think SJ is super smart, very insightful and nuanced.   I also like his walkabouts of different towns.  I believe this is in Albania where he has been living at least the last year.    BTW we have a bit of the Berlin Wall in LA as well.

Our Summer Astrology!

Our summer

I know I am a broken record about the extraordinary astrological landscape that is 2025.   And I’m not done.   In July our final outer planet transition to a new sign takes place when Uranus moves into Gemini on July 7.

So, by early July, all of our outer planet friends will be in their new territory.  And this is when things start to get crazy.   Yeah, I know it all seems off kilter now but we’re just getting started this summer (northern hemisphere) with this new-ness.

Saturn and Neptune are at their closest point in the almost-exact conjunction (2 Aries) in July and remain super close during their retrogrades in summer & fall.

One of our goodie aspects also takes place in August when first Saturn and then Neptune form a sextile with Uranus.    This could provide opportunities that aren’t even on our radar now.

At the end of July, we start to tense up due to Mars who will get into it with the nodes and then in August, Mars moves into Libra where it will oppose Saturn and Neptune.   A trip wire could be activated to some big events that are problematic.   Solutions may be found but maybe not quite get realized.   The lunar and solar eclipses in September will challenge us to find our inner humanitarian, our faith and or tap our spirituality when the mind can’t make sense of stuff.

Just a reminder out beyond 2025 we are looking forward to March 2026 when Saturn sextiles Pluto.  In 2029 when Neptune sextiles Pluto.   And of course, Uranus will trine Pluto in July & November 2026.  Then in June 2027 and January & May 2028.

In the meantime, this summer has a lot going on.   Consider the aspects that are easier and more fluid, the tough aspects, and rare aspects that all take place between summer & fall.

Uranus in Gemini 2025 – 2032

July 7, 2025 – Nov. 7, 2025

April 25, 2026- August 3, 2032

Dec 12, 2032 – May 22, 2033

We will be in endless discussions about Uranus in Gemini for the next seven years.   No sense over talking it now since we will be back here a lot. But to get the themes up and running…..

Technology is king during Uranus in Gemini periods.  Great ideas emerge especially around communication.  Innovative breakthroughs are abundant in science, health, transportation and art.   We would not be wrong to anticipate this period to be THE cycle of AI.  Uranus in Gemini is also disruptive to the status quo in nations and who runs them.  Revolutions around independence will no doubt be a common theme.

On a personal level, we benefit by being light on our feet.  Willing to get up and move around.  We itch to do something different.   We seek liberation.  We welcome short trips to experience something new and desire to mix it up.   The themes of that shake-it-up will be expressed by the natal house of the Uranus transit.   Those people who have planets in early Aquarius, Gemini & Libra will get juiced up by the thought of doing something new.   Those with planets in early Virgo, Sag and Pisces can feel challenged by all the movement or feel overwhelmed which is saying a lot since these signs are good at flexing.

All of us will need to find our intuition to help guide us during a world in transition.  Learning how to pivot is crucial.  It is also important to come up with practices that can make you feel grounded.   So much up in the air-ness can be exhausting.   Moments of grounding can do a lot of good.

Given the history of Uranus in Gemini cycles it is not unreasonable to suggest where we are now and where we will be by 2032 will be two different worlds.

Historical Note:

The last time Uranus was in Gemini was 1941-1949.

Uranus left Taurus August 7, 1941, at 11:32am ET.

On that same day, U.S. President Franklin Roosevelt arrived in Newfoundland aboard the USS Augusta ostensibly on vacation but to hold a conference with Winston Churchill and discuss what the USA could do to help the allies in WW2.

A few days earlier, the USA launched an embargo on oil and aircraft fuel exports.  The action was against Japan who had invaded French Indochine.  At this same time the UK and USA issued threats to Japan to not enter Thailand.  A few months earlier, when Uranus was in late Taurus, Japan began plans to attack the USA naval fleet to render it useless in fighting Japanese expansion.    When Uranus retrograded back to Taurus (October 4, 1941-May 15, 1942).  The Japanese activated their plans and attacked the US Fleet on December 7 at Pearl Harbor.   This brought the USA into WW2 which lasted during this period.

Gulp.

Before the 1940s, Uranus was in Gemini March 14, 1859 – June 27-1865.  The week before that Uranus move into Gemini, the largest single sale of slaves in US History took place, with more than 400 people sold in Savannah GA.   During this Uranus Gemini cycle, incidents would lead to the Civil War which started when Neptune entered Aries in April of 1861.  The US Civil War would launch and end during Uranus in Gemini.

Gulp again.

Eighty years earlier, Uranus was in Gemini 1775-1782.

This was the lead up to the launch and duration of the American Revolution.

More Gulp.

So, we’ve got that history.

Having said that, in this cycle, Uranus in Gemini is gifted with a trine to Pluto and sextile Saturn and Neptune.   These four planets in these aspects have never happened in history.  So, we are doing something very different this Uranus in Gemini.

We should all watch the inner planets (Mercury, Venus, Mars) and their aspects to Uranus once it moves into Gemini to get some ideas of the themes for the next seven years.

Watch this space.

Astrology Landscape June 11 - Jun 25

The launch of the Sag full moon is potent and the upcoming aspects in this lunar waning cycle are no doubt being felt.    Harsh aspects with Saturn, Uranus and Neptune have got our attention.   Some days may feel like a tight rubber band....ready to snap.   Be kind to self and others when you can and of course taking a breath might be in order.

Planetary Notes:

6/11: Mercury sextile Venus (5 TA 39) Joy and fun thinking. Creative.  Fresh ideas about love and money.

6/13: Sun square North node.  (22 PI 38) Where is your brain freezing?  Where are you moving so fast you are missing humanity?   Where is faith?  How does it impact the facts on the ground?

Last Quarter Moon Phase

June 18, 12:19pm PDT

Last Quarter moon:  Now we do the final adjustments to the seeds we planted on new. The final call, the final letters to send, we follow all the trails that came up that still make sense.  And we let the other parts lay fallow. It is a time of action but wise action.  It is a time for living “The serenity prayer”

God, grant me the Serenity
to accept the things
I cannot change Courage to change the
things I can, and the
Wisdom to know the difference.

Focus on:

What final actions are you taking from anything you started on new moon that lean into faith?   How are you motivated by something bigger?  What actions can you take that tap the metaphysical, spiritual and perhaps unworldly?   How does a little prayer help?   Can you tap faith in a fresh manner?

Planetary Notes:

6/18: Jupiter square Neptune (02 AR 06) (see above)

6/20: Sun enters Cancer.   Here comes the emotions.

6/22: Sun square Saturn (01 AR 35).  Cozy emotions versus hard personal responsibility.   Family versus self.  Where is the middle?

6/23: Sun square Neptune (02 AR 08) Sentimental and emotional versus desires for break outs.    Water versus fire.   Is there a way to harness both even in conflict?

6/24: Mercury square Chiron (26 AR 53).  Thinking of family and childhood that seems out of sync with self-agency and independency.

6/24: Sun conjunct Jupiter (03 CA 21).  Family, cozy, childhood, sentimental, prickly emotions and gooey emotions.  It all feels big.

Mars ain't playing

In my New Moon report for Gemini I pointed out that Mars is prominent this month.   I think it is good idea to go over it again.

On June 15 Mars squares Uranus.  This is usually a once-a-year aspect, and the last time was in March of 2024 when Mars was in Aquarius.  Now Mars is in big, bold, dramatic Leo.  The fact this is taking place around the Jupiter/Saturn/Neptune aspects suggest Mars may be some sort of catalyst.   Again, there will probably be a big news event.  On the personal level we may want to be careful with our driving or getting pulled into something that is provocative and has no goal.

Luckily, on June 17 Mars enters Virgo, another intellectual sign like Gemini, also ruled by Mercury.   Once Mars moves into Virgo it finally exits its  retrograde (by sign) that tied up most of last year and this year.   Then on June 22 it sextiles Jupiter which could free up some of the harsher feelings that people may be harboring.   Mars in Virgo signals a six-week productive period of tying up lose ends, getting super focused on health matters and clearing up household challenges that need some focus and follow up.

Jupiter Gets Into It

You know that person you invite to gatherings who is always fun?   The life-of-the-party person that once they arrive you can say, "Hey go over to that corner and talk to those folks," and soon that corner is the loudest and the liveliest.  That person?    Well in astrology that person is always Jupiter.    "Hey everyone, Jupiter is here!!"    “Yay!” says the crowd.

Two days ago, Jupiter arrived in Cancer with appetizers, a housewarming gift and a basket of fresh baked cookies.   All would be perfect if it was not for the fact that Jupiter is looking for trouble and is going for the wrong corner.   Last August he got into a squabble with Saturn and then they got into it again in December.    Now they are doing their third round of fighting.

At the end of May I wrote about this event coming on June 15th when we get the final round of Jupiter square Saturn.

“In the USA, this aspect is tied to last year’s election and Donald Trump win.  In round one and two, the signs activated were water Pisces and air Gemini.  Now in this final round we have watery Cancer and fiery Aries.   Something hot and steamy will probably grab headlines.  It may involve politics, or it may not.  It probably will be…(drumroll).. big.  (There’s that Jupiter operative word). When Cancer and Aries misbehave, they both can be petty.   There could be something disappointing that activates an angry response.   However, keeping cool is a strength of Saturn and finding philosophy is the work of Jupiter.   For people who have planets at zero, one and two degrees of Aries, Cancer, Libra and Capricorn this tension could be profound for you.  Given this is all happening in the Gemini lunar month, please remember you will probably benefit if you ask, “How do I need to adapt, pivot or flex?”

So that is June 15 and that is Saturn.   Then on June 18, Jupiter gets into it again, this time a square to Neptune.    I also wrote about it at the end of May:

“This aspect is interesting.  The last time Jupiter squared Neptune was in 2019 which it did three times in mid Pisces and Sagittarius.    Now we have only one exact hit and like Saturn above, it is in the signs Cancer & Aries. Given Neptune has just moved into Aries and has not had any outer planet aspects it is hard to say what this square will present. It is an expansion of emotions meets something mystical, psychological and unworldly.   The last time Neptune was in Aries was 1861.   Neptune is not great for reality checks; it is more in the business of inspiring people than a proper accounting and assessment.  Jupiter can go long in big ideas and big enthusiasm but in Cancer happy emotions can be, too big or crabby emotions too dire.   Finding the middle is very challenging.   In an ideal world Saturn who is also in relationship with Neptune and Jupiter will mute any of the extreme feelings.   But for sure, between June 9 and June 18, things could be emotional and janky.    Just remember we have Cancer Jupiter for a whole year so whatever comes up now that is annoying is not the whole picture and we will have other opportunities to tap that are good.

On the mundane front; the political landscape and timing of the ICE raids which are in the news appear to be part of these Jupiter aspects.   The martialing of battle resources lines up with Saturn in Aries.  The stories coming out about families and communities impacted by raids and what people feel about them, speaks to Jupiter in Cancer.  Neptune in Aries, is part and parcel of fuzzy narratives of a “City on Fire” when the reality is unrest in a few blocks in one corner of a large city.   “People will believe what they will believe” says, Jupiter.   It is hard to say what all of this will yield globally and personally but what is clear is that it can be overwhelming.

Everyone should decide what they can handle.   Don’t get dragged into anything you do not want to get pulled into.   If you do find yourself in some kind of mental battle, take care of self.   Go long on self-nurturing.  Play music that lifts or calms your mood.  Eat light and healthy.   Watch any substances (Neptune can be wonky on that front).      Also remember you are not alone.    Lots of people having lots of big emotions.  Hang in there.
