Neptune - Station Retrograde - June 30, 7:14am PDT

Neptune Station Retrograde

Mar 9, ‘23 :         Neptune enters shadow period

Jun 30, ‘23         Neptune retrograde (7:14am PDT) 27 Pisces 41

Dec 6, 23 :           Neptune station direct (12 :27am) 24 Pisces 53

March 25, 24     Neptune exits shadow period

In addition to the square, Neptune stations retrograde about ten days after the new moon.   Five months a year Neptune retrogrades backwards.   On June 30, the gassy foggy planet will recycle and revisit the degrees it traveled from March 9.  Then on December 6 when it turns direct it will go again over those points for a final time until March 24 when it exits the shadow With these outer planets, the themes are not as pronounced as the inner planet retrograde like Mercury, Mars or Venus (coming in August) but still we may see a topic repeat or we may feel Déjà vu on some issue.  For those people who have planets between 24 and 27 degrees of Gemini, Virgo, Sagittarius, and Pisces you could feel extra free floating which may be uncomfortable.  Finding a way to get your grounding could be challenging but at the same time, you may find yourself with new gentle perspectives which you can integrate into your life that are rewarding.   On a mundane level, news stories about humanitarian issues may be pronounced during the retrograde and certainly around the station dates.   We are experiencing Neptune in Pisces until 2025 when it finally dips into boisterous Aries.   That will be the launch of a very different era so we should make the most of our time in Pisces where we can learn to appreciate beauty, creativity, and the power of caring about humanity.

Astrology for the Week of June 19-June 25

This week we continue the new phase of the Gemini new moon.  We continue to plant seeds that stoke curiosity.  We seek knowledge.  We activate our writing.  We stir up our creative projects.   We may reach out to siblings and neighbors.     On June 21, the sun moves into Cancer signaling the first day of summer in the northern hemisphere and winter in southern hemisphere.    Later in the day on the 21st the moon moves into the Crescent Phase where we double down on receiving information.    As we discussed on the new moon, the data we are receiving may not be accurate.   This is a particularly fuzzy 29 day cycle with the three day window centered on June 25th’ and the Mercury square Neptune as being extra nebulous.

This focus:     What actions are we taking that connect with gathering knowledge?  How are we getting information?  Is it coming to us in an obvious manner?  Or are we using intuition?   How are we clearing our heads when we are overwhelmed?   What are our communication abilities?  How are we fact checking information?

Special note:

6/18:  Sun square Neptune.  Fuzzy facts. Fuzzy thoughts.  Fuzzy narratives.   Who is getting played?

6/19: Jupiter sextile Saturn big ideas meets big structure.  Responsibilities are big but accomplishments can be made.

6/20 : Mercury sextile Mars.  Smart thinking brings smart actions.

6/21 : Sun enters Cancer – Solstice 7 :57am

Crescent Moon Phase

June 21, 2023

10:22 pm PDT

Focus on: What are you learning about your strength?  What are you learning about your creativity?   What are you learning about self-esteem?  What are you learning about what brings you joy and fun?   How is love informing your thinking?

Special Focus

6/23 :  Sun sextile North Node.  Spirit and energy support novelty and independence.

6/25 : Mercury square Neptune.  Mental confusion.  Fuzzy facts, communication that is muted and unclear.

Gemini New Moon: June 17, 2023 9:37pm PDT

Gemini New Moon

26 Gemini 43

June 17, 2023

9:37pm PDT

Welcome to Gemini New Moon.

The 29-day Gemini lunar cycle is when we get our mentality activated.   Gemini is the first air sign of the zodiac.    Aries and Taurus are the first fire and earth signs which emphasize self-motivation (Aries) and security (Taurus).   Now with Gemini, we focus on something that is more abstract, our thinking.   If Aries is the birth of a baby and in Taurus, the baby is swaddled and fed (thus safe and secure).  In Gemini, the baby is observing siblings and the community while being strolled down the street.  Or toddler-ing around the house exploring this thing and that thing and of course, beginning to talk-- all of this is Gemini.   Our thinking is on in Gemini.

Gemini is versatile; it can switch from one thought to another in a millisecond.   Gemini is literally and figuratively the breath of fresh air we welcome after 29 days of earth-bound Taurus.    In the Gemini lunar month, we enjoy change and mixing it up.    Gemini’s greatest gift is its adaptability which is an offshoot of its natural curiosity.   What’s that thing?  Who is that person?   Why is that going on over there?   The questions are always flowing with Gemini.   Adaptability speaks to survival, but you can’t adapt unless you observe it.    There are plenty of stories of those who observed something unusual and knew something was off and made a change that later turned out to be lifesaving.    Or maybe they saw something and knew it would be beneficial and it later was very fortuitous.   The desire to know is Gemini’s superpower.   However, the downside of Gemini is collecting too much data which can overwhelm the system.   When Gemini takes in too much the mental computer locks and the beach ball starts bouncing.   This is when Gemini can’t decide or will second guess everything so much that it lands nowhere.  This lack of commitment also speaks to missing the gift of adapting.   Sigh.  The key for Gemini is unplugging and rebooting.  Shaking off the mass information means settling the brain.   Finding the quiet mental space is challenging for Gemini but necessary and especially true for all of us during 29 day cycle given the aspect on the new moon.

The Summer of Venus in Leo!

One of the astrological signatures for 2023, is the upcoming Venus retrograde.  Every eighteen months, Venus retrogrades for six weeks.    While there are Venus retrogrades every year and a half, where they land in the zodiac occurs in eight-year cycles.   In the lifetime of any human, Venus will retrograde in only half the signs of the Zodiac versus Mercury which retrogrades in all signs, multiple times over the course of a human lifetime

This Venus retrograde starts at 29 degrees and goes back to 12 degrees of Leo.

In the last 50 years, Venus retrogrades in Leo were in the summer/ fall of 2015, 2007, 1999, 1991, 1983, 1975 and 1967.

Take a moment and consider what came up for you during those times that spoke to creativity, love, romance, money, and beauty.    What we value speaks to Venus.   During any Venus retrograde we can experience challenges to our value system.   There can be major movements on those matters and the sign of the Venus retrograde speaks to themes.

Leo is how we find joy and pleasure which can be up for appraisal.   Being bold and taking strong actions is Leo.   If we have been behind the scenes too long, now on the Venus retrograde in Leo, we may put ourselves out there. It is not that it all must happen during the six weeks, but we can realize during the retrograde that being in the shadows is no longer working.   We may create bold plans to change our life in the shadows.  We also can find our heart in the Venus in Leo retrograde.   There can be tears but behind it we can tap the power as well.   Like Scarlett O’Hara, (a symbolic Leo character by any measure) in the movie Gone With The Wind, who taps her tears and anger when she holds a small radish dug up from the field and states, “As God as my witness. I will never be hungry again.” Bold declaration speak to a fortitude found and tapped in Venus in Leo.

To get a feel for a difference that the signs bring to the Venus retrograde, the very last Venus retrograde was in 2021 and it was in the sign Capricorn.  Capricorn is a way different energy than Leo.    Look at the last 50 years for the Venus retrogrades in Capricorn which were in the winter of 2021/22, 2013, 2005, 1998, 1989/90, 1981, 1974,1966.   In those cases we may have been adjusting our values around career.  Or how we move around in the public. How we take responsibility especially in leadership.   Capricorn is somber, we may have had setbacks that had us question if we were even valued.   During Venus in Capricorn, we could have valued a more austere approach to any bumpy situation.   We may have tapped our ‘coldness’.    In Leo, a fire sign, and a enthusiastic sign, it is our pride and our self-esteem that inform us.  Our generosity in spirit and actions can inform us and we take a moment and we value being ‘bigger.’     It is fun to look at the 8 year cycles of Venus retrogrades and play compare and contrast.  In two years the next cycle will be Venus in Aries.  We'll go over that cycle then.   But now use this time during Venus in Leo retrograde to figure out your bold theme.

This year, Venus enters Leo June 5, but does not start to slow down until it crosses the shadow on June 19.    On July 22 it stations retrograde for six weeks.  On September 3, Venus stations direct and finally exits the shadow October 7.   Venus will have our attention in some manner for three and half months, with of course the heat of the energy being the six weeks of retrograde.

During the shadows, Venus will form several aspects with other planets.   Each aspect may drill down on themes that impact us personally.   Of note, we get three rounds of Venus square Uranus and three rounds of Venus square Jupiter.   Jupiter is ‘big’ ...on steroids.   Uranus is weird as F.   Whatever strange stuff comes up will be big.    In the mundane astrology, there are usually scandals that pop up on Venus retrogrades.   Given this one will be in theatrical, dramatic Leo our friends in the celebrity world may pop up with some kind of scandal.    And given Jupiter and Uranus are in the mix, it will be big and odd.   To that I say, “Sure, why not, it’s all weird now anyway.”  Sigh.

For more personal insight, look at the degrees of the aspects and for those of you with planets at those degrees in Taurus, Leo, Scorpio and Aquarius you may feel the intensity quite a bit.

June 5:                         Venus enter Leo

June 5 :                        Venus oppose Pluto 00 degrees 05

June 8 :                        Venus square nodes  3 degrees 05

June 11 :                      Venus square Jupiter 5 degrees 38

June 19:                       Venus enter shadow

July 2 :                         Venus square Uranus 21 degrees 46

July 22 6 :32pm PDT  Venus retrograde 28 Leo 36

Aug 9 :                         Venus square Uranus 22 degrees 55

Aug 13:                        Sun Venus conjunction 20 degrees 28

Aug 22 :                       Venus square Jupiter 15 degrees 18

Sept 3  6 :20pm PDT  Venus direct  12 degrees 12

Sept 16 :                      Venus square Jupiter 15 degrees 19

Sept 29 :                      Venus square Uranus  22 degrees 40

Oct 7                            Venus exits shadow

Oct 8 :                          Venus enters Virgo

This Venus retrograde will not be shy or quiet.   Between Leo, Uranus, and Jupiter the energy is noisy.  It is also a fabulous time to go long on any creative project that has been sitting in a corner collecting dust.  That thing you have felt total guilt about NOT doing because you tell yourself all kinds of nonsense, like not being good enough, talented enough, pretty enough, young or old enough, well this Venus retrograde will call you out.   You are good enough to do it!

Let’s see where we all are by October 8 when Venus finally exits Leo and enters quieter Virgo.I am sure we will all welcome it!   In the meantime, be bold!

June 11, 2023 - Pluto returns to Capricorn

Pluto re-enters Capricorn

June 11, 2023

2:45am PDT

Pluto which has been retrograde since May 1, returns to Capricorn on June 11thwhere it will stay until January 20, 2024.   We still have work to do in Capricorn which rules big business and big government, and this date is around the debt ceiling drama in the USA.  For this last round of Capricorn, if leaders in general are not on their game, they will be called out.  For those people with planets between 27 -29 degrees of Aries, Cancer, Libra, and Capricorn you continue to experience changes that have long lasting effects.  You are cutting away that which is obsolete so that new can come in.   Your psyche knows what no longer is serving you and Pluto is poking you to do the actions.   Breathe.    Remember once Pluto leaves Capricorn it will never return in our lifetime.

Saturn

Mar 11 2023     3:05pm    Saturn enters shadow 00 Pisces 31

Jun 17, 2023    7:42am   Saturn station retrograde 07 Pisces 13

Nov 3, 2023       9:47am    Saturn station direct 00 Pisces 31

Jan 17, 2023     7:00am     Saturn leaves shadow 07 Pisces 13

On March 7, Saturn left Aquarius and entered Pisces where it will be until 2026.    Pisces is the final water sign and connects to dreams, creativity, mysticism, spirituality, vulnerability, and compassion.   Given Saturn is the hardworking planet this could be a two- and half-year period of productive creative growth for Piscean endeavors.  It can also be an important period for humanitarian causes with concrete solutions.

But how we get to concrete successes, which is what Saturn is always seeking, might start with Saturn’s calling card of frustration, sadness, weakness, and depression.    These emotions can be true of any sign Saturn enters but it is more so in vulnerable Pisces who can feel overwhelmed even on a good day.   Some of you may have felt these emotions since it entered Pisces in March.   However, what we know is that by the end of the Saturn’s journey there will be important results. Saturn takes hold of something slippery during its time in Pisces and then shapes and modes it into something that lasts.  Such was the case in previous treks by Saturn in Pisces. In the 1870s during the early days of what would become the art Impressionist movement or the film industry in the 1930s and certainly the world wide web in the 1990s, all were shaped during Saturn in Pisces.  Saturn brings a practicality to any sign including ephemeral, dreamy, sensitive, slippery Pisces.

On June 17 Saturn stations for its first retrograde in Pisces.    For those people who have been feeling melancholy or pessimistic about something in their life or in the world, the retrograde may at first double the intensity of the emotion.  But Saturn retrograde is not prone to collapse into the emotions or lean into ‘what’s the use.’  Instead, Saturn seeks solutions.   How to find those solutions will first mean sharing your vulnerabilities with others.  You may seek professional help (very Saturn).   If your personal relationship is fraying, a therapist could be helpful, if your body is problematic, a doctor or new doctor may need to be called. If your business is wonky, a lawyer or financial advisor may need to be brought in.  If you are overwhelmed by issues in your community now you may need to reach out to your electeds or community activists.

At the same time, you may also need to get structured about self-care and find ways to restore your body, emotions, and psyche.   Remember Saturn is not afraid of problems.  In fact, Saturn looks for them so that he can fix them.   In Pisces, Saturn is very much like one of those home make over tv shows.   The designer and contractor enter the house that is falling in on itself.  They see the damaged floors, disgusting plumbing, or a mess left over by a hoarder.   It is enough to overwhelm anyone.   But the team points out the good bones, calls in demo people and the junk hauler.  They are disciplined, they know their budget and they stay on task and by the end they have a beautiful new home.   That is Saturn in action.  Between June 17 and November 3 use Saturn retrograde to look and find your inner team that will help you stay on track, strengthen your resolve and in the end support your ability to tap faith.  And remember this can be a very creative time, use Saturn to help you make an important dream or two a reality.

Sagittarius Full Moon: June 3, 8:41pm PDT

Gustav Holst:  Jupiter

June 3, 2023

8 :41pm PDT

Full Moon

13 Sagittarius18

Lunar Eclipse

The Sagittarius full moon is when we stretch and get out of normal routines and patterns.   We travel not just physically but mentally.  We expand our knowledge; we seek and give advice.  We look for the 20,000-foot perspective.   Normally, Sagittarius, who is good for a laugh and opposing Sun in Gemini, who loves novelty, there can be some fun on a full adventurous Sag moon.  But in this case, there may be a patina of seriousness given the wide square to Saturn in Pisces.   We are still in the beginning of Saturn’s journey in empathetic Pisces.  Our tender is being poked and prodded.   Our humanitarian is up, oh so high,  even when we struggle with humans.   Have any hints of depression or ennui lapped on your shore since March 7?  Have we been misguided by someone or some thing?    The mutable signs; Gemini, Virgo, Sagittarius, and Pisces know how to adapt, if they can settle their brains.   Saturn is a settling influence all full moon.   Whatever message of lack or sadness or disconnection come up on this full moon there may also be hints of solution.  We may reach out to others for a wise perspective.  Sag's superpower is inspiration and since the Sun and Moon are in trine and sextile to Mars in Leo, inspiration can instigate needed actions which may even surprise you with their boldness.

Sag’s ruling planet Jupiter continues to be in square with Pluto.   Pluto is difficult to calibrate since it has barely arrived in Aquarius.  What knowledge are we expanding (Jupiter)?  That has practical application (Taurus)?  That is shaking up our own source of power (Pluto)?   Or shake up our friends and groups (Aquarius)?  How is our love, money and values in the mix?

Try to forgive any righteousness in others and in self, instead enjoy a good laugh, find a new trail to hike, watch a big ol’ adventure movie or maybe find comfort in house of worship.  Maybe light a candle.   Or listen to Gustav Holst : Jupiter for mega inspiration.
