Astrology for Sept. 29 - October 5

The astrology for September 29 – October 5.

The Moon in Capricorn launches the opening square in this 29-day cycle with emphasis on actions that put us out in the world.    Pretend you are CEO of a major conglomeration that has all the resources in the world—but you have only one employee---YOU!  What actions and directives would you give to that one employee (you)?  How does it line up with your values and goals?    Remember this all ties back to the Virgo Eclipse a week earlier.   Look at your calendar.   Look at your to-do list?  How does it make sense to your goals and values?

We are lucky because this is the second Virgo lunar month that we are processing this year.    Take this second bite at the First Quarter moon and make the most out of it.

In terms of planets, the only one super pronounced is Mercury.   Watch any fights around October 1 when Mercury squares Jupiter. Family and relationships in your brain and face.    What is the goal of your words?  On October 3, Mercury does a number with Chiron in Aries.    Any wounds around being authentic within relationships will be on our brain.  What we say may be clear.  Finding independence in some manner may be on our mind and in our conversations.

Also, on October 3rd we move into Gibbous Phase where we do a drive by of our friendships and groups and assess if we are in sync.  Do we feel uplifted by our peeps?   Do we feel we have each other’s good?   Or are there those who are in the undermining business?   Are they doing it unconsciously and need a little peck back?   Or are they doing it consciously because that’s what they are all about?   Or is this your modus operandi?    Take a moment and consider all of this as you navigate your groups/friends.

First Quarter Moon

Sept 29, 2025

4:53 PM PDT

First quarter: We do more actions based on the information that we just received.  Or we feel our instincts guide us on something.  We pursue again. What hurdles have popped up involving the seeds you planted on new moon?    We make another call, or we see someone. We mail something.  We stir the pot again.  This can be a time when we realize that the goals, we planted on new need more action from us, perhaps actions that involve breaking away.   Are there people who say they have our best interest in heart but fear us growing away from them?  Maybe we need to get help from others not the usual suspects.  Some independence may need to be exerted.

Focus on:   What actions are you taking that support your place in the world?  What actions are you taking that connect to your actions from the new moon?  How can you take action that support your career?   What actions will you take if you ask your ‘inner CEO’ for advice?

Planetary Notes:

10/1: Mercury square Jupiter (22 Cancer 34) Watch your words and your tone.  Are you being too big?  What is your goal?  Are your feelings getting in the way of the brain?   Or is it the opposite?  Does your communication not match your heart?

10/3 Mercury oppose Chiron (25 Aries 30) Independence in thinking and speech feels wounded.   Why is it so hard to speak for oneself?

Gibbous Moon

October 3, 2025

11:46 pm PDT

Gibbous:

We refine our information.  We pick and choose, we discriminate, and we organize to be ‘Virgo’ like.  We sort through details.  Have we missed something?  How are we sifting through the information?  Go back and make sure something hasn’t been neglected.  Refine our actions.   How are we perfecting our goals?

Focus on:

How are you refining your groups?  How do your friends line up with your goals?   Who does what?  How are you connecting with other people and what are your like-minded goals?

Planetary Notes:

10/6: Mercury enters Scorpio.  Sharp thoughts.  Penetrating conversations abounds.  Deep research and cutting to the bone.  Uncovering the facts even if you don’t share what you know.

I Made Jimmy Kimmel's Cold Open!!

In what can only be described by a set of extraordinary circumstances I found myself in Jimmy Kimmel’s cold open last night.

Last week I watched everything transpire between Disney, Nexstar, Sinclair,  and FCC resulting with ABC pulling Jimmy’s show indefinitely.

This occurred on Wednesday September 17 when Mercury opposed Saturn which had retrograded back to Pisces.    Oh, Saturn, you really want to go there?

I have a history of writing late night TV including Letterman and Leno and making political jokes is part of the landscape.    When my friend called to tell me what happened, my hands were wet and messy because I was making dinner for my family.   I asked her to repeat the joke two times as I tried to figure out the cause for the furor and I said, “This is about the set up for the joke?”   “Wow, that is an overreach.”

Just for clarity The FCC rules for removing a license include indecency and obscenity, commercial content in children’s TV programming and other issues.  The FCC is circumspect about what it can do because the First Amendment, which protects Free Speech, is valued and cherished in America.   Also, the Kimmel show is entertainment programming not news.

When I was working in late night we did Clinton and Bush jokes all the time.   They never tried to pressure the FCC to cancel us.   In fact, in 1999 when I got married my mother-in-law thought I was a Republican because of the Clinton jokes.”

I suspected this was going to grow in furor especially for all the folks who hate cancel culture.   I suspected Libertarians and swing voters would not be digging it.  I wondered about young men of which Jimmy has a large following.

In the meantime, many people started to unplug from Disney+.   I knew people who sold stocks.   Eff with the 1st Amendment and people get rattled.   Soon people on the right, Ted Cruz, Rand PaulTucker Carlson, stated their rejection of this move by Disney and the FCC threats which were not veiled by any measure.

I watched.   I wondered if Disney would make a move and show what I would argue, bravery.   I decided I would give the House of Mouse until Sunday.   Then after the eclipse I would unplug from Disney+.   And so, it was in the evening of September 21 I hit pause on Disney+.   "You pause Jimmy, I pause you." I told some friends what I did and went to bed.  The next morning, on Monday I snail mailed letters to the CEOs of Disney, Sinclair and Nexstar, the FCC chairman and T-Mobile who bought ads on the local Nexstar affiliate in LA (KTLA).   Then I heard from a friend that there would be a protest about a mile and a half from my house at the El Capitan Theater where Jimmy shoots his show.    I made a little sign and walked up to the theater on Hollywood Blvd. grabbing the bus for the last half mile.

It was a small crowd but a lot of media and I figured my small sign might get some photos.    I had no idea where it would land.

Last night I was at my monthly astrology meet up when Kimmel was starting to air on the east coast.  I was heading home when a friend said to me, “You made Jimmy’s Cold Open.”   I was shocked.

I played the clip and practically fell over.  It is only one tenth of a second but wow.   I am sure the ratings were to the roof.  I just checked the YouTube video and it had about 11 million views and growing.

Yesterday, The Sun in Libra trine Uranus in Gemini and the Sun trine Pluto.   This was the landscape I believe for elevating what is important and what we value.   A lot of people (Aquarius) have spoken, and the 1st Amendment is clear worth a fight. means is worth fighting for.

There is some astrology that was significant to me personally involving my Venus at 2 Aquarius and my rising at 2 Aries.    But still I didn’t think I would be tied to Jimmy Kimmel for eternity or at least if some historian somewhere in the future looks up this episode to see when the 1st Amendment was protected on the first full day of Autumn in September 2025.

The Astrology for September 21 - 28

Photo:  Getty Images

The astrological landscape of this week is potent.  Very potent.

We begin the week with a second Virgo new moon and another 29-day cycle where we get our Virgo sensibilities on.    This new moon also is loaded with power since it is a solar (partial) eclipse.   Like an usher at a theater during intermission, the lights turn on and off to get our attention.   Please read my new moon report on this second potent Virgo New Moon and outer planetary aspects for deeper analysis.

On the 22nd Mars enters Scorpio and gets into it with all the outer planets via quincunxes galore.   This is rough.

Additionally, on the 22nd we change seasons at the equinox when the Sun enters Libra.

The Sun now in THE sign of negotiations opposes Neptune which is THE sign of confusion.    Something is off and the Sun knows it, but it is hard to negotiate with the nebulous.   However, the Sun is getting support from brilliant and iconoclastic Uranus along with support from powerful and evolutionary Pluto who also rules the masses.

This is a potential salve which we may need because Mars in Scorpio forms a square with Pluto on September 24th.   Mars digs Scorpio since it is one of its home signs and it is feeling its potency.   The Moon is in Scorpio giving Mars more emotional potency as it heads for a square with Pluto.   A Mars square Pluto is a regular event (every six and 18 months) but this is the first square in Scorpio since Pluto moved in Aquarius.  Intense actions and powerful drives that are conflicted will be in the news.   Technology (Aquarius) could be pronounced along with themes that speak to societal ‘norms’ and ideologies.    Mars isn’t a subtle planet who gets lost in nuances and this whole sequence seems wired to explode or at the very least get our attention where we ask some big questions.

All this planetary action takes place in the 3.5 days of the New Moon phase.   On the 25th we move into Crescent Phase where we get informed.  The phase is Scorpio themed so there is a lot of information.  Knowledge will come forward on how we find power.   Where we co-mingle our resources and how we let go to transform.     There are no inner planet outer planet aspects during Crescent phase and frankly that is a good thing.  We may need the break as we process alll that planetary action from the new phase.

Virgo New Moon

September 21, 2025

12:54pm PDT

(29 Virgo 05)

New moon: Plant seeds, make calls, activate, start projects.   Activate something that will ideally lead you to more results.  This is the phase where INTENT is critical.  Even if the results are not immediate, the intent is there.  You may not have all the answers or road map, but you should put out your Intent.

This focus:    Make the most of your schedule.  Make the most of every hour.   How does your calendar reflect your goals?   How can you clean up any messes?   What doctor do you need to see?   What resume needs to be tidied up?    What details have needed a tune up all year?    We get another month to take care of loose ends.   Make an effort to Serve others and serve you.

Planetary notes:

9/22: Mars enters Scorpio.  Depth of feelings can motivate a lot of intense actions for six weeks.

9/22: Sun enters Libra.  Happy Equinox.

9/23: Sun oppose Neptune (00 Aries 45) (see new moon report

9/23: Sun trine Uranus (1 Gemini 19) (see new moon report)

9/23: Sun trine Pluto (1 Aquarius 27) (see new moon report)

9/24: Mars square Pluto (1 Aquarius 27) (see Mars post)

Crescent Moon Phase

Sept 25, 2025

2:26pm PDT

Crescent:  We will receive information, we will research a bit more, perhaps get feedback on stuff that we planted on new.  Perhaps get some information that will help down the road on a seed we planted a while ago.  We can collect some data now.  Even if you think you are not getting information, stop, and re-look at everything.  Who called you?  Even the silliest things when they come up during Crescent are noteworthy.  A parking ticket.  An argument with a spouse?  A refund check from the phone company?  No matter how mundane it arrives, consider it as message.  How can this information help you?

Focus on: What are you learning about co-mingling?  What are you learning about joint finances?   How are you being informed about power?  What are you learning about sex?   What are you learning about the power of evolution?  How are you getting informed about death and rebirth?

Mars Has Our Attention - September 20 - 24

Mars

Mars Square Pluto

Sept 22  - Mars enters Scorpio

Sept 24  Mars square Pluto  (1 Aquarius 27)

Nov 4 - Mars exits Scorpio

Mars is always loaded for bear.   No matter the sign, Mars is ready to fight.    Mars, the warrior gets into it with Pluto, the spy (and assassin) every 6 to 18 months.  It is not an out of the ordinary aspect but still we are well advised to have this Mars square Pluto on our radar.

Start watching the news on September 22 when Mars enters Scorpio.   Mars is very comfortable in Scorpio since it is his co-ruler.   Once Mars moves into Scorpio he will be there until November 4.   Mars in Scorpio can instinctually feel its way around and know when something needs fixing.  Mars might say, “Hmm maybe I should go to the dentist and get x-rays.”   Pluto, who is at the very beginning of its journey in Aquarius has not yet experienced a square by Mars in Scorpio and will respond, “Here’s your x-rays.  You need a root canal.”    Mars and Pluto are intense when they get together.

Looking at the previous rounds of Mars and Pluto many of you will remember that a lot of astrologers (including myself) called out October 8, 2023, as potential war aspect.   There was a solar eclipse around that date which juiced up the combatant component.   Sadly, on October 7, Hammas terrorists attacked a music festival in Israel.   It was brutal and the response, that continues, is brutal.   It is possible there may be a revisit of brutality in that region or someplace else in the world around September 24.  It also is not limited to a region, because Pluto is in Aquarius the technology sign; cyberspace is a potential battleground.

Additionally in the new moon chart, Mars is in a narrow but a stinger of an aspect (quincunx) to Saturn, Uranus, Neptune and Pluto.   Will Mars and Pluto go hard and harsh and we see opportunities to fix and heal through the other planets? It certainly seems like the outer planets will have a response to Mars and his bully impulses.

Between now and 2043 there will be eleven Mars Scorpio square Pluto Aquarius.    Will each one manifest the same way?  Of course not.     But themes will emerge and repeat that speak to:

Intense powerful passions

Society transformations

Actions

Technology

Corruption

Exposure

Ideologies

Conflict, confrontational

Disruption

Anger

Masses

Mars Scorpio Pluto Aquarius dates:

1)  Sept. 24, 2025

2)  Nov 17, 2026

3)  Oct 20, 2027

4)  Oct 24, 2028

5)  Oct 16, 2029

6)  Nov 25, 2030

7)  Nov 2, 2031

8)  Oct 23, 2042

9)  Dec 1, 2042

10)    Sept 19, 2043

11)    Nov 17, 2043

As we head into this first Mars Pluto square between Scorpio and Aquarius,  Sept 22 – 24 is intense.    What is happening ‘out there’ will be felt ‘in there’.    Take care of yourself.  Feel what you feel.  Make any adjustment that are true to you and always remember you aren't alone there are groups (Aquarius) who understand you and transformation in your life is possible (Scorpio). It usually starts with a thought (Air sign) and a check in with your emotions (water sign).

Diving into Balsamic Lunar Phase: Sept 17

Personal Almanac by Honeycomb

Sept 17, 2025

5:03pm PDT

Diving into Balsamic Phase

Here's the reminder of what we have experienced so far:

New  Aug 22 11:06pm – Plant seeds and actions ideally based on the theme of Virgo.

Crescent Aug 26 8:44pm – Information comes to us, much of it informed by the wheels we turned on the New, either consciously or unconsciously.

First Quarter August 30 11:25pm.  We do actions that connect to the wheels we turned on new moon and how we were informed during Crescent.

Gibbous Phase September 3 9:52pm.  We sift through data and pull out those points that are important.  We separate the wheat from the chaff.  We refine.

Full Moon Phase September 7, 11:08am  Did we have an important resolution?   How did we find balance?  Did our emotions guide us to a big move?  Did we make changes based on all we have experienced since New Moon (August 22)?

Disseminating Phase September 10, 6:58pm   Did we share what we have learned since New moon?  What did we learn through the last five phases?  How did you connect to our inner teacher?  How did we respond to other inner teachers?  What have we learned from others on their own ‘mastery’?  How are we sharing the skills that we have improved?

Last Quarter Moon Phase September 14, 2025 3:32pm

What actions did we take that tie back to the seeds and goals we planted on the new moon?  Did resolutions appear ‘out of the blue’ but when you think back, these results came from the work you did on the last six phases?

After Last Quarter moon, we roll into the final and eighth phase.   Balsamic which starts Sept 17, 5:03pm – Sept 21, 12:54pm PDT.   During these last three and half days of the 29-day lunar month we release.  We release any goals, struggles and or successes.   We are not in the business of doing anything except release.   We can tidy stuff up.  We can throw stuff out.   We can clean our houses and our psyche.  But we do not do any new actions.   We can lay on our bed and zone out on streamers.    We. Let. Go.

Balsamic can be the space where icky feelings come up because our drive is softer.     Just let any ick roll through you.   Because this is a Leo Balsamic moon we are releasing anything attached to ego.   How can you let go of pride?   How can you release being the hero?   How is there a way to clear space for new vitality to roll in?

Balsamic is the gift where we can let go of the debris in our homes, our brains and our hearts.   By allowing stuff to fade away and not form attachment we can prepare ourselves for the next New Moon which in this case happens to be a 2nd Virgo New Moon and a solar eclipse.  How lucky for us to get to do another Virgo round.   We clearly are getting our schedules and to-do lists in shape in 2025!

I hope these deeper dives allowed you to learn more about the phases in a personal manner these last three weeks.   Remember these eight phases exist in every lunar month.   Try to work the rest of the new moons and the accompanying phases going forward for maximum results.  This is how we get on time!

The Astrology Landscape: September 14 - 20

Getty Images: Stock Photos

We are now in the final days of the lunar moon that began on August 22. All the action we started on the new will be processed for our final actions and then our release.    By doing all that we can in the waning moon we will help set up for an optimal new lunar month.   Given that the next new moon is a very potent solar eclipse and a second Virgo New Moon (!) let’s give ourselves the best shot by making the most of these final waning phases.

You can read a longer write up on Last Quarter Moon which is the seventh phase in our series of deep dives on the eight lunar phases this cycle.

There is a lot of planetary action during these phases primarily because planets in early Libra are getting in the mix with all the outer planets.  If we were clowns we would be juggling a lot of balls.

We start with nice Venusian aspects with Mars and Chiron.   Opportunities to be motivated by love and solid actions that bring out creativity and tell the person in the mirror it is okay to be celebrated.    There is also a wonky Mars aspect on the 16ththat could be problematic.   Finding independence is never easy but Mars is looking to negotiate anyway and anyhow which may come at a cost.

Mercury is taking a lot of twists and turns.  It opposes Saturn on the 17th where the cynical voices in our head and in the world get the most attention.  Then during Balsamic Phase, Mercury is the significant player especially on the 18th when Mercury enters Libra looking for balance everywhere.   And on the 18th, Mercury opposes Neptune so seeing the other person’s POV can be helpful and may bring some humanitarian voices out into the forefront.  But at the same time, take note of any voice that sounds like Stockholm syndrome.  Also, on the 18th a breath of fresh air comes to our thinking & conversations via a trine with Uranus and Pluto.   This is a lot of mixed up action for Mercury who in general likes to move quickly.   We may need side bar railings to hold on tight with this much information coming at us.

On the 19th Venus moves into Virgo, activating the period where we demand dots dotted, t’s crossed from our loved ones and they demand the same of us.   On the 20this the first harsh aspect between Venus and Uranus (square) since Uranus moved into Gemini.  Over the course of the next seven years, we will have squares by Venus twice each year, once when Venus is in Virgo and the other time when Venus is in Pisces.   Let’s see how we get informed how this tension plays out around September 20.   It will be weird and renegade thinking could be pronounced.  It may be mentally challenging but maybe in the mess we can still find the love.

Then the last aspect before the New Moon eclipse is Sun oppose Saturn at 10:45pm PDT.    Saturn is the planet of timing and at late Pisces opposing the Sun in late Virgo feels a bit unworldly with on the ground repercussions.   In the old days, doctors used to slap babies when they were born, this aspect feels like an internal slap before the baby is born on the New Moon.  Ouch.  It is connected to the solar eclipse chart so it may be an influence through the next lunar month.  More to be revealed.

9/18: Mercury enter Libra

9/18: Mercury oppose Neptune (00Aries 53) Fuzzy thinking, conversations that may not be transparent.

9/18: Mercury trine Uranus (1 Gemini 23) Creative, thinking that is novel, fresh and offers up brilliance and breakthroughs.

9/18: Mercury trine Pluto (1 Gemini 30) Sharp thinking that penetrates through any muck.  Balance is easy.  Nuance shines.

9/19: Venus enters Virgo.  This is that three-week process that comes up every year where we experience “I’m critical of you because I love you.”  Are we the recipient of the crits or the giver of the crits or both?

9/20: Venus square Uranus (1 Gemini 22).  Love and creativity feel tweaked.   Values seem out of place or are ditched.   Being weird sometimes is just weird.

9/20: Sun oppose Saturn (28 Pisces 30).   Vitality could feel off.   Nervousness gets in the way of strong inner voice.   Breathe.

Last Quarter Moon Phase

September 14, 2025

3:32 am PDT

Last Quarter moon:  Now we do the final adjustments to the seeds we planted on new. The final call, the final letters to send, we follow all the trails that came up that still make sense.  And we let the other parts lay fallow. It is a time of action but wise action.  It is a time for living “The serenity prayer”

God, grant me the Serenity
to accept the things
I cannot change Courage to change the
things I can, and the
Wisdom to know the difference.

Focus on:

What final actions can you take based on the seeds that you planted on New Moon.   How do you need to adapt those plans?   How do your plans back on the new (Aug 22-26) match the facts on the ground now?   Do you need to adapt those plans and or goals? Where do you need to pivot?

Planetary Notes:

9/15:  Venus sextile Mars (25 Libra 51) Love and actions are in synch.  Acting on values is easy.

9/16: Venus trine Chiron (26 Aries 12) Finding independence is healing and is motivated by love and values.

9/16: Mars oppose Chiron (26 Aries 12) What does it mean to go for peace at any cost?  How does it chip at your independence?

9/17: Mercury oppose Saturn (28 Pisces 46) Thoughts and conversations are serious.   Thoughts that can be negative and sharp.

Balsamic Moon Phase

September 17, 2025

5:03pm PDT

A more detailed write up about Balsamic for our 8 phases deep dive report to come.

Balsamic:   We let go.  By releasing we can prepare for the new.

Focus on:  What does it mean to let go of ego?  How can you let go of pride?   How can you release being the hero?   How is there a way to clear space for new vitality to roll in?

Planetary Notes:

9/18: Mercury enter Libra

9/18: Mercury oppose Neptune (00Aries 53) Fuzzy thinking, conversations that may not be transparent.

9/18: Mercury trine Uranus (1 Gemini 23) Creative, thinking that is novel, fresh and offers up brilliance and breakthroughs.

9/18: Mercury trine Pluto (1 Gemini 30) Sharp thinking that penetrates through any muck.  Balance is easy.  Nuance shines.

9/19: Venus enters Virgo

9/20: Venus square Uranus (1 Gemini 22).  Love and creativity feel tweaked.   Values seem out of place or are ditched.   Being weird sometimes is just weird.

9/20: Sun oppose Saturn (28 Pisces 30).   Vitality could feel off.   Nervousness gets in the way of strong inner voice.   Breathe.

Second Virgo New Moon & Solar Eclipse September 21, 2025 – 12:54pm PDT (29 Virgo 05)
