This focus:  How are you finding balance?  How are you negotiating?  How are you finding your center and your inner authentic self?  What needs housekeeping between you and your partner(s)?

Crescent:  We will receive information, we will research a bit more, perhaps get feedback on stuff that we planted on new.  Perhaps get some information that will help down the road on a seed we planted a while ago.  We can collect some data now.  Even if you think you are not getting information, stop, and re-look at everything. Who called you?  Even the silliest things, when they come up during Crescent are note worthy.  A parking ticket?  An argument with a spouse?  A refund check from the phone company?  All of it needs to be considered a message from the universe.  How can this information help you?

Focus on: What information are you getting that is deep?  How does this deeper knowledge inform your decisions about balance and fairness?   How is the rule of law informing your understanding of fairness?   How are sex, death and taxes informing your desire for balance?

First quarter: We do more actions based on the information that we just received. Or we feel our instincts guide us on something.  We pursue again.  We make another call or we see someone. We mail something.  We stir the pot again.  This can be a time when we realize that the goals we planted on New need more action from us, perhaps actions that involve breaking away.   Are there people who say they have our best interest in heart but fear us growing away from them?  Maybe we need to get help from others not the usual suspects.  Some independence may need to be exerted. 

Focus on:  What are actions are you taking that present you to your world?   What actions are you taking in public that speaks to kindness?  Who is your “partner” in the public eye?    

Special Focus:

10/6: Mercury oppose Uranus.   Brilliant although chaotic thinking.  Break outs and break through in thoughts. 

10/7: Sun square Saturn Hard work and discipline need attention.  Sloughs need not apply.

And then there is Pluto…… oh, yes, Pluto.   

As we know Pluto is retrograde for six months every year.  On October 2, Pluto will station direct since turning retrograde on April 24.  

 Normally, we would assess what transformations have taken place in the last 6 months, consider what still needs a serious makeover and how it might make sense between now and the next retrograde.  But this station direct is a wee bit different.    Last month we discussed that once Saturn turned direct (September 18^th) we should expect everything to speed up and for things to move fast as Saturn heads for its conjunction with Pluto on January 12.   Now it is Pluto’s time to turn around and head for the rendezvous with Saturn.     This is the first time these two have been together since 1982 and the first time they have been together in Capricorn since 1518.     

The build up to this aspect will not be subtle.  A few months before the 1518 aspect, Martin Luther nailed his theses on a church door and started the reformation.  Are you a protestant?  Well it started on that aspect.   Now here we are and the question is, who is getting reformed now?    Also about six months after the 1518 aspect King Charles of Spain authorized slave trade from Africa.  That is the darker side of Pluto & Saturn in the commerce sign of Capricorn.  Let’s pray to whatever we consider holy that we do not repeat that mistake.  

Last month we discussed all the aspects going on between Jupiter, Saturn and Pluto in 2020.   Now Jupiter and Saturn are both direct and once Pluto turns direct on October 2 we should all prepare to move fast and hit that clear air turbulence we discussed earlier.   Will an oxygen mask fall into your lap?  If your eyes and heart are open, you’ll see it.

All of these aspects and dates may seem overwhelming and believe me they are hard to just type but they tell the story that is in our future for the next 15 months.  It is a bumpy period filled with many moments where we are between a rock and a hard place.   Many of us will be feeling like we are put into a mill and grinded down. Obviously some people will feel it more than others especially anyone with planets in Aries, Cancer, Libra & Capricorn around 22 -25 degrees.   The early degree Aquarians will also be coming into focus at the end of 2020 but we’ll save that discussion for later next year

Perhaps there was a big ol’ blow out on the full and one feels in need of support and help, this is the phase to reach out to one who knows more. This is when we find a rabbi or a minister or therapist who gives us more insight.  And of course, you too may be ready to teach and share your own information.  

Focus on:  How are you sharing your practical nature?  How are you sharing your solidness?  How are you sharing your values?

The final call, the final letters to send, we follow all the trails that came up that still make sense. And we let the other parts lay fallow. It is a time of action but wise action.  It is a time for living  “The serenity prayer”

Welcome to our Friday the 13th Harvest Moon for 2019.  The last time we had one was October 2000 and by the time we got to the Harvest Moon of 2001 --the world was different.  Sigh. 

 This Pisces full moon is on top of Neptune and both of them are opposite Sun in Virgo which conjuncts Mars about an hour after full moon.   And all of them square Jupiter in Sag.  Lord. 

The full moon phase like all the phases is about three and half days long.    As hard as we want to stay disciplined between now and disseminating (9/17) we will probably get tugged under some waves, like a broken down piece of kelp.  The To-Do list melts in our hands. The diet falls apart.  We can’t get our act together.   And there is the Mercury Venus conjunction in Virgo who can get lost in minutia—not seeing the bigger picture so our ability to get our thoughts together and present our ideas could also be weakened.   Thus, it is a three-day cycle of ping ponging between  “Lost in the waves” versus “Lost in the weeds.”

Luckily, Sun is trine to Pluto.  So we will be feeling a need to dig deep and find a way out. 

What do we do? 

We learn a skill (Virgo) that cuts (Mars) through all that overwhelms (Jupiter) where we connect to truth (Sag) that is important but can’t always be explained (Pisces) but we know it is true because our psyche ‘gut’ tells us so (Neptune).   The key is we have to get deep (Pluto) to find the path.   

Perhaps it is fast meditation that takes you to truth (in about a nano second.)  Something comes up that overwhelms or scares you and you are not sure what to do ---So you close your eyes, get quiet and you get the answer.   The ability to find a moment of clarity in a sea of noise is critical for all of us and during this full moon phase we will be tested how to find the clarity.  

To be clear it is not that the answer you get has to be a Yes or No, for sure that could be an answer but your gut could tell you ‘Call So&So and discuss.”  Or some other pragmatic answer.   There are so many answers to so many questions out there in the ethers it just needs us to learn how to get quiet and find our answer.   Prayer helps as well.   And things that appear random for example, you may be bopping along your day and 'suddenly' remember something important or you put two and two together that you never considered before that moment, this too is how our gut talks to us.   

Sleep could be all over the place.   Day dreams will be super high.  This is a very creative time.  

Don’t beat yourself up if you are behind schedule in anything --you need this fuzzy period to find your inner clock.   

Remember, you are your own wise soul but it takes a little work to find you.   

Jupiter /Neptune - September 21

It is hard to believe that in all the crazy, cuckoo energy of wound up Virgo plus Saturn acceleration we also get the final square between Jupiter and Neptune.  

We have been feeling these two planets in their little war over faith all year with the first aspect hit on January 13 and the second on June 16.   You may want to go back to your calendar and see how you were challenged.  Where did you have a crisis of faith?   Did you have some big dreams that didn’t get realized?  Was it something small that just hurt enough to cause your cynic to emerge?   Have you learned something now that by this final aspect you are changing your approach or belief?   Or are you going to go back to the well of  disappointment again and learn yet another lesson?   Hard to tell.    Jupiter rules Sagittarius (where it is right now) and before Neptune was discovered Jupiter also ruled Pisces.    So there is a kinship between the two planets even when they are squared.  But they have big differences.   Jupiter in Sag is too opinionated.   Neptune in Pisces is too vague.   Where one explains why something should happen the other lifts up its hands in either prayer or frustration and say, “its not up to me.”     Finding the spot in between both approaches is not easy but the path is finding quiet and reflecting on routes that solve any hardness in the heart.   Do not fall into cynicism.  Do not fall into fantasy.    Neither are accurate, and they are too worldly.  Instead look for an inner compass that can only be found when you get quiet and are open.  Let that gift come with this final round between Jupiter & Neptune.   There is so much truth inside you, use this aspect to tune into it.  

Saturn Direct September 18 --

Saturn turned retrograde on April 29 and during the last five months we have learned a lot about responsibility and work.  We have also learned through failures.     Sometimes we looked around and said, “Can I get some help, please?”  And the answer was a very loud, “No”.  We just had to do it ourselves.   The grind was real and hard and seemed just damn stupid at times but in the end we learned about our skills, discipline and stick-to-it-ness.  Saturn delays but it does not deny and now that it is turning direct we will see a lot of the fruits of our hard work.  Saturn spends only two (and change) years in one sign.    It has been 28 years since the last time it was in Capricorn in 1988-1991.   Now turning direct it straightens out and flies right where it will hit Pluto in January.  Be prepared to see the energy intensify, as Saturn turning direct activates a trip wire on our path to the January conjunction.    Then on March 21 it leaves Capricorn and enters Aquarius.  It turns retrograde on May 10 and re-enters Capricorn on July 1 for its final months of the hard work and discipline lesson until it re-enters Aquarius in December 2020.  After that point it will not re-enters Capricorn until 2047.    So, ask yourself what did you learn about hard work since April?  What did you learn about skipping hard work that maybe you should have shown more discipline?  Can you take the energy of Saturn direct to help you now as you refine your world?  How can this Virgo cycle speak to Saturn and ask for help?   Get on the right side of Saturn while you have this gift of Saturn being in its home sign of Capricorn.  Unless you feel you have the time to wait until 2047 when it returns.   I know I don’t. 

Things Will Start To Get Interesting......

The next ten days things should start to get interesting.   We start with Gibbous Moon with focus on friends, groups and colloboration.   How are you playing with others?  How are you reaching out to like minded?  

Some fuzzy factor comes up on the 10th and sparks will fly on the 12 with a Mars/Jupiter exchange.   Our thinking softens on the 13th just in time for a compassion sometimes crazy full moon (post will follow).   Actions start to slow down in doubt and guilt then next week Saturn turns direct (separate post) and Jupiter & Neptune have their final shoot out at the OK corral (separate post) ---the floor is starting to drop on our carnival ride.

9/12: Mars square Jupiter.  Actions seem small.  Pettiness gets in the way of big goals.  Stopping the parade to pick up a nickel does what for everyone? 

9/13: Mercury conjunct Venus.  Valuable thinking.  Kindness wins

Okay.   No one is judging. 

But do not ever believe for one minute you are NOT weird or odd.    You can tell yourself you are bland –but you are not devoid of weird.  Every human on god’s green earth is weird somewhere.  And during the full moon in Aquarius we find our weird.     

This particular Aquarius full moon is challenging because there are so many planets on the other side of the moon, in the sign Leo, sucking up a lot of oxygen.   The Sun and Venus right on top of each other and nearby Mars and they all want to play and laugh and have fun and spend, be big, indulge, party and celebrate - and if they get sloppy –their response is ‘So what?”   While Moon in Aquarius knows there is something going on out there that is way bigger than our play toys and playtime and is bugged by self indulgences and ‘missed‘ opportunities.   In addition, Aquarius likes to mix things up and if everyone has got their party on -Aquarius can bring a wet blanket.  Not just to be negative or contrarian (which it can do) but more because it doesn’t ‘get’ what everyone is talking about or doing.    On this full moon, the way to work through these opposite expressions is to --find and lean into our weird.  Ask yourself where you are not like the crowd?   Or how is your crowd no longer fitting you? 

We only get one Aquarius full moon a year and this is the perfect moon to key into where we need to detach.    During these 3 days  there could be serious crazy which pushing you that there may be a Where, a Who and a What that is growing old.   Some of you may act on that feeling but a lot will just note the feeling of needed detachment.  It may serve us later.   Also, Uranus the ruler of Aquarius is squaring Mercury so our thinking could be extra chilly. Even if we are playing and having fun it just may not feel like it is enough.   Again, note it but don’t collapse into that feeling.  This is an air moon so we are working on our thinking and the mentality of our life.  In the meantime remember that all the planets in Leo speak to finding authenticity born from love.    Actions based on love will be in the news this full moon.  Will it move you?   Will it make you cold about areas of your life that are inauthentic?   Will it make you wish to do more?  Will you break free from being Betty Banana one of the bunch?  Anything is possible, because Aquarius is just that weird with opportunities.

We can all put a red star on August 11 because it is no simple Sunday (USA Time zone).    On the 11^thwe have two major planets change direction.   Jupiter who has been retrograde since April 10, will be stationing direct in the morning of the 11^that 14 degrees of Sagittarius.   And in the early evening Uranus will station retrograde at 6 degrees of Taurus beginning its journey back to 2 degrees of Taurus on January 10^th. 

We love Jupiter in Sag for being bold and visionary and standing up on a hill and saying, ‘Hey everyone there is something cool over there.  Let’s go check it out.”   However during the three month retrograde not everything ‘cool’ panned out.   Jupiter stationing direct suggests a more sober approach as we process our goals and visions that Sagittarius points out.    We are not cynical but we take a moment and make sure any opinion or philosophy or vision we embrace is in sync with our inner truth.      Jupiter will continue his new more measured journey in Sag until Dec 3 then he moves into conservative Capricorn.   Where in your life has the velocity accelerated since April?  How can this area still be inspired but calmer?  Where do you feel like you have moved from student to teacher?  How can you share your knowledge?  What special voice do you now own and someone needs to hear it?  Let’s get our Jupiter on in these last few months of his Sag journey.  He won’t be here again for a dozen years so now make the most of it!  

Uranus spends half the year every year in retrograde.   Globally there could be some sharp issues around banks, money, finances and more border issues.   Land use and private properties including businesses will be in the news.  Practical new innovation or the need for innovation will also be in the news.   Personally those people with planets at early Taurus, Leo, Scorpio and Aquarius could feel chaos and changes from out of the blue.    There will be cage rattles for sure but what is important is how to respond to the changes.   Instead of feeling like it is ‘happening to me’ we should try our best to own the changes, ‘Okay now I’m doing this..”    Because we know mentally, it is better to drive the car than to be taken for a ride.   

Uranus will end this retrograde at 2 degrees Taurus on January 10.  Two days later will be the Saturn Pluto conjunction.   That is one of the most important aspects of the 21^stcentury.    Watch what Uranus brings up for you during these next five months it may speak to what is important for you in the new environment that Saturn/Pluto will bring in January.

While the New Moon chart has Mercury retrograde suggesting thoughts and communication have a confusing element during the 29 day cycle, it is not entirely chaotic because within one hour after the launch of New Moon, Mercury stations direct.   This retrograde had us finding and processing our emotions and then finding ways to communicate the deep feelings inside us.    Now on the Leo New Moon where we celebrate our own style and uniqueness we get a boost from Mercury helping us communicate more effectively.    Our mental state has been on an emotional journey for the last three weeks.  What it has learned and how it expresses itself will begin to unfold.   Consider what came up for you since June 20?    And how have you been processing the beefs and stresses and emotions that have been in your sights since July 7?   How are you finding your strength?    And how are you realizing your deep emotions are your strength?    This Mercury retrograde has traveled from 4 degrees Leo back to 23 degrees Cancer.    On one level our identity and self esteem have felt pushed to the very brink. Thoughts of “Who am I?”  have percolated up  and rattled us to our bones. But our emotions have answered us that we are humans finding our ways and gentleness of self and to others will help us find our balance.   We can be bold and unique and special while also acknowledging others in their own power.  And to that we say, “Thank you, Mercury retrograde. I learned a lot.”

Today we move into Capricorn Full Moon and Lunar eclipse, which is in a separate thread.

In addition to the stresses and strains of the lunar eclipse we have other stuff this week including Venus who is not feeling so loving on 7/16 (thanks, Saturn) but then Venus gets some spirituality and faith two days later with Neptune.   On the 21st Venus has her annual opposition to Pluto, which we are already feeling that speaks of love, sex and power.   Love & emotions that seek to control or are being controlled will come up and need to be processed.   Do you really feel good about whomever has your love? Also on the 21st Mercury and the sun connect –will there be strength and bravery or bragging and ego?   Those who can tune their minds into quiet confidence will be better served.

Let’s all remind ourselves as to what is exactly an eclipse.  Technically an eclipse is when the shadow of Earth is cast upon the moon (Lunar) or the moon gets between the Earth and blocks the sun (Solar).  If it covers it completly it is a total eclipse if it gets some of it, it is a partial eclipse.  

Eclipse patterns are in19 year cycles.   This lunar partial eclipse is at 24 degrees of Capricorn and the last time we had eclipses in Cap & Cancer was 2000 & 2001. And specifically it was at this exact same degree on July 16, 2000.  You may want to recall what was going on in your life at that time and see if the same themes are coming up now.  Obviously, 9/11 took place in 2001 Cancer Capricorn eclipse cycle, which set off a course of events that still impact us today.   However, it is important to note there were other astrological events also going on besides the eclipse.    

This period of the Cancer & Capricorn eclipses points to a teeter totter experience of worldly matters versus home and family.    Practicality vs emotions.    Sensibility, responsibility and ‘Dad’ vs  feelings, intuition and ‘Mom’.   Showing up at job vs showing up in a kitchen.  Being an adult vs being a child.  And knowing which is more important---both are critical but with eclipses it is like when someone walks into a room and turns the lights on or off –everyone is put on alert.  The same with a lobby of a theater, when the lights go on and off everyone knows a new act is about to begin.   We have already had the lights go on last summer and this last January and will have it continue through next June.   Can you identify what acts in your life have started to wrap?  Or what new shifts did you make that combine your intuition and your pragmatic self?   What have you launched?  Some people have already changed homes or jobs, which is typical with Cancer Capricorn eclipses.   By the way, these tugs in different directions do not have to happen exactly on the day of the eclipse but can start to emerge around the dates.   Here are the dates for the Capricorn Cancer eclipses:

If this full moon chart had no other planet in the mix it would still be punchy since it is an eclipse.  But there is more to this chart and it would be astrological malpractice to NOT bring up Saturn and Pluto on this eclipse.  First of all, in the chart, the Moon has cozied up to Pluto and not too far away is Saturn watching over his Capricorn kingdom.    Both planets are addressing power.  The power that is in being responsible and proficient (Saturn) and the power there is in evolution.  (Pluto).    Saturn takes things that are frivolous and throws it away so that we can focus on what is important.   Pluto lets something die so it can be reborn and we can be new again.  Obviously both planets speak of letting go. 

As you can see these are not light and airy planets and having them in the mix on this eclipse signals it’s a time to get rid of the corrupt (Capricorn’s downside) and immaturity (Cancer’s downside).   Astrologers in the future will nod their heads and mutter “Lunar eclipse 2019” when they see stories from the news about Jeffrey Epstein and child rape cases around this eclipse.   It’s all there for an astrologer.    But back to the personal, many people be feeling, ‘let’s get on with it’ or  “Time to cut bait or fish.”   The eclipse pushes back on dithering.    Because Saturn is retrograde along with Mercury we may not actualize the ‘getting on with it’ but it has to start first with the emotion and that is Cancer’s message.  Feel it and begin to act upon it.     

In addition, some of the issues or endings that come up with this eclipse may have an important connection to next year’s great conjunction of Saturn and Pluto on Jan 12, 2020 at 22 Capricorn.   Here we go with Saturn and Pluto again!    

This aspect is one of the more important aspects for the 21^stcentury and signals a new change.  The last Saturn Pluto conjunction started in 1982/1983 and curiously that cycle hit its mid spot in June 2000 around the last time of the Cancer eclipse.   There is no law in the astrological universe that would tie eclipses to Saturn & Pluto but it is curious that the last time we were in these Cap/Cancer eclipses was the mid point of the last Saturn & Pluto cycle.  And now we are on the eve of the next Saturn Pluto cycle and we are once again in Cancer Capricorn eclipses where we process our emotions and responsible natures to figure out what is important and get focused on working towards new goals.     For the record the next time Saturn gets on top of Pluto will be 2053 and then 2086.   Like I said, this aspect is important in this century.    You can read more about Saturn and Pluto
