We are in the new and crescent phase of the Aquarius lunar month which launched on January 29.   

 

This focus:    How are connecting to others?  How are you finding your groups?  How are you and your friends able to support each other?  Have you outgrown each other?  Is there a new friendship in the offing?   What communities are you tapping?

It takes one year for Jupiter to transit a sign.  While there is a lot of opportunities and gifts with the planet Jupiter, we should all get down on our knees and be grateful that Jupiter is ONLY in a sign for one year.   It is so dang large, and the gravity pull of Jupiter is so huge that it can be exhausting especially in some signs more than others.  

 

An argument that the Jupiter in Gemini transit is one of those exhausting transits.   Jupiter is in its detriment in Gemini meaning that the nature of Jupiter and the nature of Gemini are complicated.   Gemini likes to bop around, pick up a piece of data then drop it, go futz with something else, then pick up a new piece of data and wonder if it had anything to do with the other data, then get bored and move on.  You get the point.   Jupiter, the planet associated with big thinking, big philosophy, big opinion is overwhelmed by the rapid-fire data during its Gemini period.  It has trouble finding up from down.  Not a comfortable place for Jupiter. 

 

Fortunately, in Wednesday's (1/29) New Moon chart there is a fruitful aspect between the Sun, Moon and Jupiter.  This suggests some opportunities to be gleaned around the new moon and during the lunar 29-day month.   Doors could open, connections could be made, a fresh new group of peple can appear who are helpful.    Jupiter stations direct in the Crescent Phase of the moon which is when we gather information which is kind of perfect for exhausted Jupiter who will no doubt use its gravity to find some semblance of a thoughtful narrative that it could have missed in the last few months.   Media, especially more traditional, may have some big moves especially with Uranus stationing direct just a few days earlier.   

 

On a personal level, siblings and neighbors could be more active in our lives. Communication that was dormant in some area may get a fresh start.  Stories could come to us at lightning speed.   As always avoid gossip.    For those folks with planets between 11 and 29 degrees of Gemini, Virgo, Sag and Pisces, if you are feeling overwhelmed, please unplug.   Go get lost in a movie or streamer.  

 

One other note, on August 19, (17 Gemini/Pisces) we had the first of three rounds of Jupiter square Saturn.   Jupiter wants to spread out and get bigger while Saturn seeks constriction.     Our second round of this aspect was on December 24 (14 Gemini/Pisces) and the final aspect will be on June 15 (1 Cancer/Aries).   On that date it will be a different expression of emotions and family versus break through independence.   More to come.

Double downing in the prepare-for- weirdness- &- innovativeness is Aquarius’s modern ruling planet, Uranus who stations direct 24 hours after the launch of new moon.   Have you ever been in a room and maybe down the hall someone opens a door and even though you are 20 feet away that breeze swishes over you?  Well, this New Moon is minding its business, setting a tone for the 29-day lunar cycle when who should open the door and swoosh in?  Uranus, Aquarius’s landlord.  

Mr. Weird, Ms Eccentric, lets-be-different-Uranus will be mixing it up.   For these 29 days, those who expect the unexpected will be wise.   

 

Uranus spends five months retrograde each year and this retrograde started September 1.  Then On July 7, after seven years of transiting through Taurus, Uranus will move into Gemini.   Between now and July 7 there will be something akin to a dress rehearsal for the world as we figure out what we still need from Uranus in Taurus.   Taurus is a food sign, a construction sign, it manufactures, and it is our currency. Uranus still has work to do in terms of new technology that impacts food.   Construction.  Money.  Buildings, etc.   Uranus wants to make it all ‘new’ and if something is broken, Uranus will no doubt create attention, albeit weird focus.  But for all of Uranus dynamic and disruptive energy it does not do it in a vacuum.  If there is an issue or has been an issue that NO one has been dealing with, that is when Uranus gets our attention.  Even if it feels out of the blue there is probably a theme of ‘broken’ that has not been addressed.   

 

It is interesting that ever since Pluto dipped into Aquarius last year and now has returned for good and Uranus is in the last ten degrees of Taurus, the bird flu has wrecked the egg and poultry business.   Innovation is clearly needed.   Let’s see what additional problems Uranus finds in Agri Business for the next six months and then what innovation can present itself when the planet moves into curious, smart, fresh Gemini.    

 

On a personal level those folks with planets in late degrees (23 to 29 degrees)  of  Taurus, Leo, Scorpio and Aquarius,  you should try and  remember that swoosh of wind.  Uranus could be telling you there are some changes you may need to make between now and July 7 and again late in the year and beginning of 2026.

The 29 days of the Aquarius lunar month are a doozey.  Lots going on.  

Here is a snippet from my report, the link to the whole report is at the end of the snippet.  

Aquarius

 

Aquarius speaks to friendships and the groups of people where we like to hang.   Aquarius is the sign of the water bearer, but it is not a water sign.  It is an air sign and is therefore long on mentality and communication.   In ancient times, people (water carriers) went to the well or town spicket or oasis that served the community.   Obviously, water is vital for life.  But on another level the water carrier had an additional perspective.   At the well, people talked to one another and learned news.   A king died, that family moved, crops are good, crops are bad, people are getting sick at a nearby town, information at the water source had its own vitality and the water bearer was often the one to hear it and take it back to family or community.  Sharing and talking and strategizing is an important component to Aquarius.    

 

During Aquarius we lean into our own inner connectedness.  Where do we go for vitality?  What do we bring to friendships?  What do we glean from friends?   Obviously in our modern era, a lot of Aquarius is tapping social media.   What groups do we choose to put our energy?   However, while we do seek and lean into connectedness in Aquarius, we also have our radar up if we are being trapped by herd thinking.   Our unique vision must be tapped and processed during Aquarius.   We may be handed a group thought that sounds good in spirit but if it is off in practice we may seek to find another group to hear what they say about the practice.    Our brain switch is very much ON during Aquarius. 

 

This New Moon Aquarius chart has Sun and Moon at 9 Aquarius with Mercury at 2 Aquarius and Pluto at 1 Aquarius.  For the next 20 years Pluto will at times be a factor in the New Moon charts.  In this case it is a wide conjunction to the sun and moon, but it is tight orb with Mercury which was exact about five hours before the new moon.  This is a potent aspect for the New Moon and 29-day lunar month could have a theme of intense conversations about breakdowns and breakthroughs in the news or we may be experiencing on some level with our friends and groups.  God help any of us when we walk into ‘red tape’ but at least during Aquarius lunar month we may reach out to our group(s) and get an unusual solution.     At first blush getting others feedback can speak to insecurity about one’s own opinion but in Aquarius it is not necessarily questioning self but more of a ‘this is so weird, what do you think?’  energy.   Lots of discussions to be had this cycle.

The final call, the final letters to send, we follow all the trails that came up that still make sense.  And we let the other parts lay fallow. Pluto 

We are continuing to understand the new 20-year journey of Pluto in Aquarius.   There is so much unknown, but we do know if it involves new technology, it is Aquarius.   If people are looking for their groups that also speaks to Aquarius.    Breakthroughs can be in the offing since Pluto speaks to evolution.   Of course, Pluto is transformative under pressure which can sometimes include big booms.   Sigh.  

On January 21 the Sun will conjunct Pluto for the first time since Pluto moved into Aquarius.    Watch stories in the news around this date and other inner planet aspect dates that may include technology, evolution and maybe a boom.

Astrology for Week January 13 - 19th.

 

Last week I apologized for my late report on the Capricorn new Moon and lunar month.   I posted it on January 7.   On January 9th my city, Los Angeles began to burn.   The fires are impacting all of the city and certainly me.  I am feeling the astrology of 2025.   Sigh. 

Anyway this week starts with a potent Cancer Full moon then on the 17th we move into Disseminating Phase.   

Special focus 

Jan 14:  Venus square Jupiter.   Big thoughts and big communication are rubbing against our gentle side.  Finding humanity and humans may not be in alignment with big opinions.  Which is more important? 

Jan 15: Sun oppose Mars.  Where are we bringing practicality and pragmatism to our emotions?   How can we make the energy work for us?  

Jan 17: Sun sextile Neptune.   Creativity, faith and spirituality get a boost of pragmatism that works for us.

Once a year we get the Full Moon in Cancer.   In general, this is the full moon where we can tap our emotions and harness our energy.    The Sun in Capricorn is always hunting around for results and during its opposition to the full moon in Cancer it can accomplish a lot through the power of feelings and memories.   Things can come up that remind us of the perks and hurdles of childhood and family dynamics.    Are we up for using the full moon to heal?     This full moon could be connecting us to the healing properties via several aspects:   

 

Moon conjunction Mars.    Personal power is up, and it could feel very important to do _____ (fill in the blank).     Some people may have been wanting to do something for a long time but really were only 50% committed.   This full moon could hit a lot of people who upon awaking are revved up to 100%.   They will tackle the project in full gusto (and perhaps anyone in the way).    If you are going too fast, take a moment and pace yourself.    Also, we should make sure that any over commitment to doing stuff is not motivated in wounds from childhood and we are looking for an excuse to build a big old resentment list, something Cancer and Capricorn have in their toolbox.  Take a moment and consider motivations.      Also, the Sun oppose Mars reminds us that checking in with the body and being responsive to its needs is very important to maintaining vitality and not exhaust self.  Eat when hungry.  Take a break when fatigued.  Go for a walk to get fresh air.  Talk to a friend.    Repeat. 

 

There usually is also an opportunity to mature on a Cancer full moon and acknowledge some childish behaviors that are not helpful.     Or there can be the opposite response where relying on status quo has become stale and now it is important to find child like wonderment.    The Moon trine Neptune should be helpful for inspiring new ways of tapping joy.    Use intuition and faith as internal divining lines as you ride the emotions of the full moon and find your inner child.   

 

Sun trine Uranus and Moon sextile Uranus suggests a surprise and opportunity out of the blue.    It could be helpful and support an exceptional creative Cancer full moon.   

 

 

While I do not work with all the dwarf planets, it is worth nothing that Astrologer Stephanie Austin in her monthly astro report points out Dwarf planet Eris on this full moon.   

 

“Dwarf planet Eris, already intensified by its station direct on January 11, squares Mars and forms a tight, dynamic T-square to this full moon. While Mars circles the Sun every two years, Eris takes 557, moving in a highly elliptical orbit three times farther out than Pluto, which varies from 38 to 97 AU (one AU equals the distance from the Earth to the Sun). Eris spends 22% of its time in Aries, calling us to transform longstanding issues of inequality and repression, resentment and revenge, competition and corruption. Because of its retrograde passage, Mars makes three exact squares to Eris: October 21, 2024, January 20, and April 4, all at 25º Cancer-Aries, urging us to use our willpower wisely — to be sensitive to the needs of others as well as our own, and to be assertive without being divisive, dismissive, or dominating. They last conjoined on June 2, 2024.”

The last eight days of my life disappeared in a fog of illness.   Do not get what I got whatever the hell it was.  The cough was awful.    I missed New Moon.   I apologize.  I was able to write the report in the last 24 hours.    We are still in the waxing moon, make the most of Capricorn.
