Sun conjunct Jupiter. June 24, 8:17am PDT

Jupiter will lie directly behind the sun from our point of view at 15 UTC on June 24. This point in its orbit is called superior conjunction. Jupiter will emerge in the morning sky in July. Chart via EarthSky.

The Sun forms a superior conjunction with Jupiter at 3 degrees of Cancer on June 24 at 8:17am PDT.

Once a year the Sun and Jupiter form a conjunction.   On one hand people could say, ‘what’s the big deal?’  Sure.  But in the case of this conjunction which is superior (cazimi) it is all happening in the middle of a juiced-up landscape.

On June 22, we had the Sun form a square with Saturn (1 Aries 35).   Then on June 23, the Sun forms a square with Neptune (2 Aries 08) On the 24th Sun forms this conjunction to Jupiter.   And on 25th at 2:33am the Moon conjunct Jupiter and then one hour later the Moon & the Sun form a new moon right on top of Jupiter.

Have you noticed the energy of late?  Lot of bigness.   God knows, the news is full of big including a big bombing in Iran.   What does that mean?  Who knows?  Too early to tell.

But the truth is everyone is getting sucked into Jupiter’s gravitational pull which means we gotta get our Cancer on.  What are our beliefs about family?  Home?  Childhood?  Nurturing? Cozy?  What do we believe about security and safety?  What are our beliefs about our emotions?   What are our beliefs about our feelings?  What are our beliefs about our moods?    All of that is the mix now that Jupiter is in Cancer and will be coloring the 29-day lunar month.

For the record, I decided to go back and check to see how many Cancer New Moons were tight conjunction with Jupiter in the last 100 years, and I found two.

One was June 30, 1954, and the other was July 16, 1977.

Per some history sites:

In June 1954, several significant events occurred, including the end of food rationing in Great Britain, the start of the 1954 FIFA World Cup, and a CIA-sponsored coup in Guatemala. The world also saw the opening of the first atomic power station near Moscow.

In July 1977, a significant event was the New York City blackout on the 13th and 14th, which caused widespread chaos and looting. Also on July 20, a flash flood hit Johnstown, Pennsylvania, killing 84 people.

Interesting.

In the meantime if you are feeling bigness about anything, it’s probably Jupiter and his big ol’ cazimi with the Sun.
