The Week Ahead

Good day!  We are in the last quarter of the Cancer Lunar Cycle.   At the last quarter moon we go back and look at the seeds we planted on the new (in this case July 8-11th) and consider doing our last round of action.
If we made promises back then and have not followed through, we get up off our duff and take care of business!

Of course, since this is the Cancer cycle, plenty of the actions will have to do with both family and family of choice.  Do we need to stand up and help a family member? Do we need to get out of our comfort zone and show up?   Or perhaps we need to show up for ourselves in the face of our family?  Remember we take this time of the year to get our family and our roots tidied up so we can enjoy the gifts of the rest of the year.    Get on with it..... work now so you can dance later!

Last Quarter Moon Phase

July 29, 2013

1:43 pm EDT

Last Quarter moon:  Now we do the final adjustments to the seeds we planted on new. The final call, the final letters to send, we follow all the trails that came up that still make sense.  And we let the other parts lay fallow. It is a time of action but wise action.  It is a time for living  “The serenity prayer

God, grant me the Serenity
to accept the things
I cannot change Courage to change the
things I can, and the
Wisdom to know the difference.

Focus on: What actions can you take that build on things that are practical?  What are you building?   What things that are in your family that need concrete work?   How are you stepping up in a practical way?

Special focus:

7/30:  Venus/Pluto:  Love and power are in sync.  Flow of love brings rebirth.

7/31: Mars/Uranus:  Unrest, revolutionary feelings, abruptness, rebellious, family versus breaking out.

Balsamic Moon Phase

August 2, 3:40pm ED

Balsamic:   We let go.  By releasing we can prepare for the new.

Focus on   We release our mental chaos.  We release our need to connect.  We release our need to communicate.  We release our siblings.

Special focus:

8/2:  Venus/Mars:  Inspired, energetic, fun, lovely.  Actions based on love excel.

HRH –New Prince

The Duchess of Cambridge gave birth this afternoon July 22,  to a 8lb baby boy.  By all reports, his father Prince William was there for the momentous occasion.

HRH – New Prince was born the last few minutes of Sun in Cancer. And when I say last few minutes I mean last few minutes.   Had HRH-New Prince been born at 4:57pm instead of 4:24pm he would be a Leo ---no ifs ands or buts.     However with his birth time he is 29 Cancer 58.      I usually don’t play the cusp game.   “You are what you are,” is sort of my policy. But I got to wonder about the New Prince.    His grandmother Diana was a Cancer and was naturally shy.   His father, William is also a Cancer and not a playah like his younger brother Harry (Virgo) and yes, maybe not as shy as his mother but still no one would confuse William with a big, bold, brash Leo.    I will put some money that the new heir will be noisier and out there a bit more than his dad, grandmother and mom.
What is also interesting is that New Prince has a Moon at 28 degrees of Capricorn.   Again, the last few degrees of the sign.   And don’t let all those news reporters standing in front of St. Mary’s Hospital confuse you with their shots of the Moon, New Prince was not born on a Full Moon.  If he had been born at 7:07pm he would have had a Moon in Aquarius and if he had been born at  7:15pm he would have been a born on Full Moon.    But since he was born at 4:24pm he was born on a Gibbous Moon.  Of course, his mom has Sun in Capricorn and  I just took a peek at his mom’s chart and she has moon in Cancer.  So, she is a Cap with Moon in Cancer and New Prince is a Cancer with Moon in Capricorn.    Perfect symmetry there.    William by the way was born on a New Moon and has Sun and Moon in Cancer.    Man, that is so much water in one little family, I’m thrilled there is a patina of fiery Leo on New Prince.    After all it is good to mix it up a bit.

Astrologers will write volumes on New Prince’s Mercury conjunct Mars conjunct Jupiter in Cancer.   His brain will move way faster than the words coming out of his mouth and of course Jupiter conjunct Mercury can blurt out stuff before they think which will cause him some bumps with friends, teachers and family.   But given my own son has Mercury/Jupiter conjunct in Cancer I can say without hesitation he will be very sensitive.   I predict a pet kitty will be in the palace, scratching up some old tapestry of Henry the VIII no doubt.

One little shadow part of the chart which leaves me scratching my head a bit, is Saturn in Scorpio Square Moon and Sun.   Saturn brings out our insecurity and with a square to Sun and Moon, there is a level of not feeling ‘good enough’ for mom (Moon) and dad (Sun).   Whether it is for a real reason or not, the person with the Sun/Moon hard aspect with Saturn just feels judged.      Since Saturn is in his 11th house it might simply be a case of a life too cloistered and he wants to be with more of the regular joes.  I dunno.   Let other astrologers muse on it in 2060 or whenever he takes the throne (long after I’m gone.)  In the meantime, I wish New Prince an abundant, joyful life with his lovely family.

One other thing:   Scorpio Rising, Moon and Pluto in 2nd house and four planets in 8th house--if he wasn't going to be a future king I would ship him off to NYC where he would be the King of Wall Street.  Pretty potent placements for money and power.

The Week Ahead

7/22 Mars/Jupiter:  Actions based on faith, education, adventure and bridging worlds.
7/22:  Sun in Leo.   Take your Leo out with another friend and have a fun meal with focus on laughs

Full Moon Phase
July 22 2:15p  EDT
00 Aq 06

Full Moon:  We make the needed adjustments on the things we planted. Usually emotions are up and running and for those people who perhaps did not utilize the new moon and the rest of the waxing moon, this is when emotions can get the better of us.  There can often be a big emotional break, for no other reason than to get back on track.   Some partnership will offer up some balance.  The moon is bright and full and there is no room for shadows, what is reflecting on you?

Focus on:    How can you find your strength and share it with like minded people and then do something spectacular?   Does the group of people who you hang out with share your values?   Why not?   Do you have people around you who push you to be better?  To be extraordinary?  Why not?   Does your group get your mojo?  Why not?

(see earlier Post)

Disseminating Moon Phase

Disseminating: Share information; find a teacher or someone who has more knowledge. Perhaps there was a big ol’ blow out on the full and one feels in need of support and help, this is the phase to reach out to one who knows more. This is when we find a rabbi or a minister or therapist who gives us more insight.   And of course, you too may be ready to teach and share your own information.

Focus on:  How are you sharing your spirituality?  How is your knowledge of intuition being shed to others?   Where are you receiving other people’s skills in metaphysics?  How is religion being shared?  Who is sharing their victimness?

Special focus:
7/26: Venus/Neptune:  Love and money feels fuzzy.  Intuition guides through any confusion.
7/26: Venus/Saturn:  Money and love are in sync.  Building upon things that are valued.

Aquarius Full Moon

Aquarius Full Moon
July 22   2:15pm EDT

And here we are at the Full Moon in Aquarius.   The Sun moved into Leo an hour or so before the Moon waxed out leaving us with a Full Moon at 00 Aquarius 05.

The full moon pulls on our creativity, courage, some theatrics, bravery and daring side while at the same time we are connecting with others, pitching in together and exhibiting team work to solve issues or build upon a dream and vision.     The Aquarius moon highlights technology.   Twitter, Facebook, the world wide web and computers are all about Aquarius.   So, is the old technology like phones, TV and radio.    Again, things that connect us to one another.

On this full moon chart, Saturn is pushing the sun and moon to show up in a hard way.   We have to pay the piper this full moon.  Responsibility, being realistic, cold water may splash on any face who has been in la-la land.    This full moon will put the conversation on what makes sense.   Saturn in Scorpio does not give away power easily.  But what it does do quite well, is ‘cut its losses’ and move on.    As much as you may want to fall into drama (Leo) over some issue, or pursue an ideal no matter what the costs (Aquarius).   Saturn will respond with “Really? Is this the right pursuit?   Are you wasting valuable time chasing a dead end?   ---Knock it off!”     Dead ends may show up this full moon.  But so will creative and new alternative roads, if you are brave enough to take them.

Money and love may be tweaked this full moon due to a snarky aspect with Venus.  Don’t personalize it, just write it up as a karmic debt you gotta pay and move on.   Finally, look around your crowd; are they pushing you to be great?   Are they encouraging you to be more, to stretch to have great goals?   Or are you connected to your crowd through complaining?   You can do whatever you want but just possibly this full moon will push you to consider bonding with others on uplifting ideals.

Uranus Retrograde today

Yes, he is full of gas.  Highly combustible gas, for sure.

As we are in the middle of the trine between Jupiter, Saturn and Neptune, Uranus will begin his annual retrograde.   Uranus spends about five months of a year in retrograde motion and this year turns retrograde on July 17th.    And of course Uranus will be hitting up Pluto for the next square on November 1.     As much as we all want to look at November 1 and say, “Four months away, I’ll deal with it then, la-dee-dah” it is actually in our face now.  The Cancer New Moon on July 8th is making a square with Uranus and opposition with Pluto so the thunder and lightening that seems far away will be in front of us now.   As I indicated to you earlier, we need to have our antenna up to enjoy the rewards of two grand trines in the middle of the month. And we need our antenna up to guide us during the rough part of the cycle at the end of July.   But we also need our antenna up in general for the full 28 day cycle as we get information about the greater changes we need to make for a fuller life that is in synch with our real needs. Cancer rules needs.      We are not looking for perfection but we are looking for real needs to be met in a real way but NONE of those needs can be met if the need is denied or ignored.    Do you need love?  Do you need affection? Do you need more close connections?  Do you need more money?  Do you need a new resource?  Do you need a new community?  Do you need to speak truth?   How have you been denying yourself?  How have you been staying small or safe because you are afraid to make the changes inside?   How is your childhood overly influencing your life today?    How can you decide what you want and take risks to get it?   What is your antenna telling you?

Lynn Hayes has posted a thoughtful piece on Uranus Retrograde which you can find HERE
It’s the role of Uranus to wake us up from the stupor of our day to day unconsciousness.  In order to do that he sometimes brings about a shocking or surprising event that startles us awake and forces us to look at uncomfortable truths in our lives.
Some of us find it easier to express our inner radical than others.  If Uranus is strong in your chart you may be a rebel at heart and resist authority without blinking an eye.  For those with more conservative planetary structures, such as a preponderance of Virgo or Capricorn or a watery chart which seeks to preserve security rather than make waves, the risks required in standing up to authority and walking away from repression may seem to great.  When Uranus retrogrades the impulse to rebel and stand alone becomes stronger and more intense.  The things that you may have been able to ignore before will take up more of your consciousness and demand attention.  This is especially true for those of you with planets between 5 and 15 degrees of the cardinal signs: Libra, Aries, Cancer and Capricorn.
Uranus will be retrograde until December 17th, and during this time he will make the fourth of seven total exact squares to Pluto (see the sidebar for more information on this cycle if you are new to this site).  Because the apparent motion of planets (from our perspective on earth) slows as they prepare to change direction, Uranus has been relatively still for the last couple of weeks and will continue to be at a virtual standstill.  Mars in Cancer will be within range of a challenging square to Uranus over the next two weeks and it is advisable to be somewhat cautious during this time.  Mars can inflame the dormant radical behavior of Uranus to the point where actions explode in ways that we never intended.
The less we allow resentment and anger to build up during this next couple of weeks the better we will be.  Exercise to release the physical energy of Mars is helpful, as is direct communication where necessary.  While Uranus is retrograde it is advisable to see where your life needs changing.  In what areas are you feeling stale and bored – where can you bring in a bit more excitement and new ways of thinking?  These are the questions Uranus will be asking.

Update this week

I am sorry I have not been able to post more but I am awash in a sea of boxes.   My move took place last Tuesday and I’m still maneuvering around piles of stuff all around our house.   I didn’t have control of the timing of this move but I promise you if I could have avoided a move during a Mercury Retrograde I would have done such.   Arghh.   It has had its hurdles.  To say the least.

Anyway, here we are at the end of the week.   We are in the first quarter moon which started July 15.  This is an action time of the moon.  What seeds did you plant on New Moon last week that need a push now?   Do it.

This quarter phase is emphasizing balance.   What actions do you need to take to bring balance into your life?   A case in point is yesterday I stopped unpacking, stopped organizing, stopped working on our new home and took myself to my new writing class.   I was there for four hours and then I had lunch with my friend.   I needed a break. I needed to find my balance. I could not be consumed by the move any longer.     This is also a good time to get your relationships in balance.   I informed my husband that this weekend he will NOT be going for one of his luxurious long bike rides---no, he will be helping me hang art.   As much as he might want to believe it, magical elves are not putting our home together and I need a little help.

Today (17th) Uranus is turning retrograde.    See other post.

And Jupiter makes a trine with Saturn and Neptune. Which puts everything harsh in a nice light today.   If you are feeling inspired, move on it.  Especially with Saturn and Neptune.  Our antennas should be up high and acting like a beacon.   Follow thy gut!

On Saturday, Saturn/Neptune form a trine.   It is one of the fabulous aspects of the month.    The structure planet meets the dreamer planet.  How are you building on your dreams?     Later on the 19th the moon moves into Gibbous phase.

We refine our information.  We pick and choose, we discriminate, and we organize to be ‘Virgo’ like.  We sort through details.  Have we missed something?  How are we sifting through the information?  Go back and make sure something hasn’t been neglected.  Refine our actions.

Focus on:
What details are you learning about education?  How do you bridge to other groups?  Have you missed an opportunity to reach across the aisle and make a connection?  How are you are organizing your vacation?
