The new Moon on January 30 at 11:20 pm PST (but listed as January 31 in many calendars) begins the year of the Wood Horse. Chinese New Year is a spring festival that begins on the second new Moon after Winter Solstice, with the Sun and Moon in Aquarius. This new Moon also starts the month of the Fire Tiger making energy very strong and lively as Horse year begins, a clear departure from the slower energy of the previous Water Snake year 2013.
The Wood Horse year is a time of fast victories, unexpected adventure, and surprising romance. It is an excellent year for travel, and the more far away and off the beaten path the better. Energy is high and production is rewarded. Decisive action, not procrastination, brings victory. But you have to act fast in a Horse year. If you are not 100% secure about a decision, then don’t do it. Events move so quickly in a Horse year that you don’t want to gallop off in the wrong direction. I have been playing an internal game of Where’s Waldo? Except I’m not looking for a guy in a funny hat, I’m looking for the cardinal

up. As we know Mars, Jupiter, Uranus
& Pluto are in harsh aspects with each other in this smoking period we are
in until end of April.About once a
week the Moon will be in one of the cardinal signs activating the crosses.I mentioned on Sunday that the Moon would be
in Capricorn on Tuesday until the end of Wednesday (EST).
It appearsthe focus
(at least in America) was in the Southeast United States where a large snow
storm hitand dumped a couple inches of
snow.
People went to work. kids went to school, people lived
their life like it was any ol’ regular day in Georgia,Mississippi etc.Whoops!Big mistake.
Government officials, both local and state are getting flak
for not putting salt on the roads, closing schools and asking businesses to
shut down.Highways turned into snowy
parking lots, crammed with cars and jack knifed trucks.People slept in their cars, people abandoned
them, kids had to spend the night in schools and school buses.
What makes the situation sticky was that weather forecasters
predicted the snow the day before and yet officials chose to believe it was not
that big a deal.
Can you see the Moon in Capricorn trying to find someone to
take responsibility (Pluto)?
Can you see the anger that someone one was not taking care
of others (Mars)? Canyou feel the righteous protection of family (Jupiter )? Can you feel the desire for new change
(Uranus)?

Okay, I want to
give you a visual.
Imagine you are
on a high plateau.When you look off in
any direction you see a magnificent thunderstorm.Bolts of lightening are in the east, the
west, north and south.Rain is
pounding and rumbles are shaking the ground, but right where you are standing
it is clear.Small bands of clouds are
going over you dropping light rain but lightening is not cracking over your
head.You look at the mess off in the
distance and you feel lucky.You have
time to assess your move, because you are not stupid, you know one of those
stormy fronts will be over you soon unless you make a move in the right
direction.Where should you go?You are unclear and you feel alone but then
you look and see another person in the clearing.“Hey, I’m alone!”And there is another person and another
person and you realize you all are in a clearing.You reach out to one of the people and ask,“Where are you going?”And they tell you.Then another person asks you, “What about you--what
are you going to do?”And in that time
of clearing you find you are in sync with others and you all agree to head off
in a direction.You are nervous, but you
are also feeling empowered because you are with likeminded.
And that, my
friends, is where we are with this Aquarius lunar cycle.
We are in the
midst of the cardinal grand crosses rumbling through our world between January
and the end of April.These are tough
aspects and even those of us who don’t have planets at 10-13 degrees of Aries,
Cancer, Libra & Capricorn, we too are feeling the ground vibrate.I won’t lie, it can be scary which is why
this Aquarius cycle is important.I
don’t want to bog you down in too much astro stuff but if this New Moon had
been a few days later we would be having a lesson with Saturn and we would not
be enjoying a breathable moment to find our way—instead we would be trying to
outrun our fear with scissors in our hand.We should all thank our lucky stars this Aquarius New Moon is providing
a beacon of light instead of mongering fear.
The New Moon chart
has got a lovely sextile between Sun & Moon with Uranus.Uranus is the ruler of Aquarius so we are
double downing on our Aquarian energy.Aquarius is an air sign and speaks to great ideas.For 28 days look at the ideas that come into
your brain that elevate your thinking.And in particular look at the people around you and see what solutions or
paths they are taking. This is the gift of Aquarius.If you are only getting information from the
same old tired group of people (or websites) you will feel unrest.You may not find the answer to what you need
or where you need to go unless you reach out and either offer up a new part of
you to your old group or go out and find a new group and new intellectual
resources.
In astrology
101, Aquarius is usually connected to ‘friends’ and I get it. But in truth it
really isn’t friends as much as the energy we feel when we are with these
people.Does it elevate us?Are their goals in sync with our ideals.Imagine if Albert Einstein stayed in that
Swiss patent office.How would the
world be different?What happened to
Einstein while he worked at the pedestrian patent office was that he met with a
few friends regularly and they discussed science and philosophy, of course he
took a different path then what was laid out in front of him in the Swiss
Patent office.And he probably would
have made a break eventually--but as great as his intellect was he still needed
fuel from his like minded friends and associates.This is the Aquarius energy.That exchange with others is vital to our
life.
For 28 days
watch your world of friends and associates.You may be surprised what you hear that intrigues you.Perhaps you will be propelled to go explore
something on your own based on what someone tells you they are doing about
______.You may have no idea how it will be important
to you but you would be missing the point of this cycle to sit on stuff that
catches your attention.This is the
cycle to find your intellect and your curiosity and above all LIFT YOUR ENERGY
UP.

warning, if you are bonding with people by griping, bitching, gossiping,
tearing others down……well, you are missing the point.And if you are missing the point—you are missing

Before we begin
this final week of Capricorn Lunar phase, can we all agree, last week was at
the very least---difficult?
I certainly
felt the tension of Moon in Libra (and all the aspects) on last Tuesday and
Wednesday.Yikes.And didn’t we all see Venus Retrograde when the stock market dropped 300 points on Friday.
But again that
was last week---now we are ready for this last week of Cap lunar phase.
The moon moves
into Balsamic lunar phase on Monday where it will be balsamic all week then at
the end we get Aquarius New Moon on January 30.
It is a quiet
week, if there is such a thing during the general challenging aspects and with the caveat of Tuesday's Moon in Capricorn and the hits with Pluto, Uranus, Jupiter, Mars dragged out all day Tuesday and into Wednesday.
But for the most part the emphasis this week is on releasing.Let
stuff go.Let your opinions go.Let youreducation go.Let your
philosophies go.Let your judgments
go.Let your goals go.Put your arrow down and take it away from
your target—let it go this week.

AQUARIUS NEW MOON JANUARY 30 4:38PM EST --New moon post to come later in the week.
We start off the
week early Monday morning with a switch into Disseminating phase. This is when
we share information and others share with us.
Our little
Aquarius friends launched into their Birthday Season on Sunday 19th.And yes the Sun may have moved into
Aquarius but we are still processing Capricorn lunar phase.
As you all know
my focus is the eight lunar phases and the transiting aspects of the planets, and
I don’t spend much time on the daily movements of the moon.There are many astrologers out there who only
focus on daily lunar aspects and they do a much better job than me.I find my brain goes into overwhelm when I
track the moon every hour.But having
said that, I would be remiss especially during this Capricorn phase by not
mentioning Tuesday and all day Wednesday we will be dealing with a lot of Lunar
Tension.Christ, yes.
Once The Moon
moves into Libra we should start to feel the tension build. Here are the times
it hits the grand cross planets.
Moon conjunct
Mars 7:50pm (Pacific) – 10:50pm (Eastern)
What a skanky
period.I expect some kind of news
event that is lame. Something will feel very unfair (tweaked Libra).Or someone will give a superficial response
that will rub everyone wrong.We love
things that are pretty and in pink but we pay a price when we hang on to the
superficial instead of doing real work.Real solutions are more appealing than useless beauty.
Emotions will be
strained.Tempers will be short.People will take deep breaths so deep they
turn blue.Or they take no breath and
cut someone down right to the callouses on their feet.Of course some people will be energized and
will get shit done.Great!Go for it.But make sure you are not reckless as you take care of business.Remember the last rough aspect of Moon before
it goes into Scorpio is a bitch slap with Mars.Ouch, Luna, you will lose.Luckily there is one nice aspect between the
Moon and Mercury that is appealing.Somewhere in the mess our brains will be sharp.
