Revisiting Jupiter

Since we are few hours away from Sagittarius New Moon, I thought it would be timely to revisit cuckoo, crazy, big ass Jupiter and his retrograde motion.   Back in October I wrote about it but I thought it would be nice to get another point of view.   Here is Lynn Koiner's take.   Go to link for the whole article.

Jupiter retrograde 2012

When Jupiter turns retrograde, the action of Jupiter is reversed so that the emphasis is upon inner awareness and inner growth. It is an excellent time to get in touch with personal integrity. Jupiter rules role playing in order evoke a positive external reaction. When transiting Jupiter is afflicting natal planets, you will find yourself dealing with phoniness in both yourself and others. When Jupiter is retrograde, you should evaluate how you are not being honest with yourself because you are playing a role that is disloyal to your true self. When opportunities arise while Jupiter is retrograde, they are the result of seeds planted in the past from people met or connections made in the past.
Jupiter retrograde is more spiritual and philosophical so it is a time to explore philosophies, possibly something simpler from a time in your past. According to Delphine Jay, this period may produce an event that reminds you of a time when you had a better perspective on life. She furthermore feels that it is an excellent time to complete Jupitarian projects such as going back to school to complete your education, taking a long distance trip that you have postponed, and making a connection with a long lost friendship. It is a good time to take spiritual or philosophical courses with the objective of gaining a better perspective on life.

Sagittarius new moon

Issue #1:  Supermoon

 

First things first.   This New Moon is another Supermoon (as was last month)

which means it is both perigree (close to earth) and sygzy (lines up with earth and moon) and according to Richard Nolle the astrologer who coined the term SuperMoons  has determined that there are more earthquakes, volcanoes and other natural disasters around Supermoons.  Curiously there was a 7.1 quake in Indonesia on 12/11…..anyway, you can read more at Richard Nolle’s website found here:

Issue #2: Maya how you spin

 

Apparently on 12/21/12 the Mayan calendar ends.   And despite all the conversation out there in the fringe and not so fringe worlds, I want to tell you right now, we will all wake up on 12/22 and rip off the 12/21 page from our daily calendar—and yes the Maya may not have a 12/22/12 but I am confident on that morning, cute kittens, daily quotes, Dilbert cartoons or whatever is our daily calendar will be staring back at us.    Great.   And come on, in your soul you already knew that, right? 

 

So, what is going on for us non mayans on December 21, 12? 

Most school children know that 12/21 is the winter solstice in the northern hemisphere and summer solstice south of the equator.    For those in the north it is the shortest day of the year, for those in the south, it is the longest day of the year.   Interesting, the Maya lived in the area close to the equator and so the day and the nights about the same length.   Anyway, on that day the Sun goes into Capricorn and the moon will be in Aries trine Mercury.  Not a huge date of activity.       Weird, all that noise for a kind of ho hum day.   

 

But if we open up the window from Dec 19 to Dec 22 we get a few more significant astro notes.   On the 19^th Venus trine Uranus and Moon sextile Mars.  Then on the 20^th Moon Square Sun, conjunct Uranus, trine Venus.  Along with Venus square Pluto, Moon quincunx Saturn, Moon sextile Jupiter and Jupiter quincunx Pluto  --that is a lot.   On the 22^nd  the Sun sextiles Neptune, Moon square Mars, Jupiter quincunx Saturn, Moon sextile Neptune and trine Sun.  And Venus opposition Jupiter.    Okay, that is a lot of energy.    Probably of the group of all those aspects I would put the emphasis on Jupiter, Saturn & Pluto aspects (More on that later).    Okay so that window of days has a lot of aspects but nothing that is going to end the world.  Given it is the holiday season there will be a lot of pressure to please self, please others and please our calendars.   Blech.    And because some of the aspects are pretty snarky we may find ourselves in bitchy conversations and a hard spots.    But heavens, nothing we can’t get through or rise above.  Especially with Sag lunar cycle.

FRIDAY

When's it going to get better? When's it going to get better? Always the same quesion. In the first place there's always something going on and always a good reason to be anxious or angry.
Waiting for it to get better is neurotic even in the best of times. With Uranus squaring Pluto from Aries to Capricorn, don't expect complete peace right now, between nations or between people. 
This is a time of struggle, change and growth. Tugs of war, battles for control, people fighting not only each other but themselves--it's everywhere. So to participate fully in the growth process you can't sit around waiting for things to get better. Only your actions will make it better. Lethargy and inertia will destroy you, or at best let you watch as the world pases you by.

You cannot simply wait for this aspect to pass so you can relax again. You have to grow with it and that means change, fight, negotiate and be wisely diplomatic desptie your impatience. But you can't just go pushing your way around either. No matter how you justify your behavior, other people are just as sick and tired of being trampled on.

And remember, people still fall in love, have babies and take beautiful trips together down the river.

Ray Merriman on The Fiscal Cliff

Financial Astrologer Ray Merriman has a terrific site that I have pointed out to all of you many times.  Naturally, in these times of post election and the american zeitgest needs another tsunami to focus attention on, all eyes are on the Fiscal Cliff. 

I am not sure what I think about it all right now. I have gotta poke around and look at some charts. But here is Ray's take.

  

Short-Term Geocosmics and Some Longer-Term Thoughts

The current critical reversal zone is not over yet. On Sunday, December 2, a very important geocosmic signature occurs, known as the Sun- Jupiter opposition. This is one of the most significant of all trading signatures used in Financial Astrology for timing stock market turns. Within an orb of 10 trading days, this signature has an impressive 50% correlation to reversals in 50-week of greater long-term cycles! It has a 75% historical correlation to primary cycles within 10 trading days. This is huge (but then, so is Jupiter), so what does it say about stock indices as well as the government’s ability to resolve the “Fiscal Cliff?” It provides a unique insight, in my opinion.

First of all, let’s consider my own bias, which is that the White House and Congress will not come to an agreement by Christmas, despite President Obamas proclaimed “wish” to get the deal done by then. To me, it is amazing that investors took that statement as a reason to be optimistic on the lunar eclipse of Wednesday, November 28. The DJIA had fallen over 100 points in the first hour of trading before the ‘wish” was pronounced. Then it rallied to close up 100+ points. Everyone “wishes” to get a deal to avoid the “Fiscal Cliff” by Christmas, which really means by Friday, December 21, so lawmakers can take the extra-long holiday vacation this year. In other words, no one wants to hang around Washington DC after December 21. If they don’t get it done by then, they probably aren’t going to get it done by January 1, which means a boatload of new taxes and spending cuts will go into effect that many economists predict will push the USA into a sudden and sharp recession. If the USA falls off the cliff, so will the rest of the world, for Americans are the biggest consumers on earth.

But back to the issue, and the Sun-Jupiter opposition. Every day that gets closer to December 21 is a day in which angst will increase, and so will the blame. Every day closer to December 21 is one day closer to the probable “rush to exit” by investors. As we approach December 13, the panic to exit stocks will probably increase greatly, and the sell-off (once started) will build momentum, for that is the date that Uranus turns stationary direct. And when Uranus is highlighted, there is no bottom or top to the market. Uranus has no respect for support or resistance. It likes to be in “breakout” mode, especially as it is already in its powerful waxing square aspect to Pluto. Thus, failure to make a new high next week would mean the Sun-Jupiter correlated with a crest this past week, and the selling pressure will start in earnest. Even if it does make a new high early this coming week, selling pressure could start up at any moment, absent an agreement from Washington.

Now, in case my bias is wrong and there is an agreement, then stock prices could soar into a crest around December 13, +/- a couple of days. Uranus would be wildly bullish. But then reality would set in and traders and investors alike would realize that there really is no fundamental tax reform in effect that is needed to truly stimulate the economy by creating new jobs, and bringing about a reason for higher wages. That – and only that –will create the revenues the White House seeks to make a dent in the debt situation long-term.

So it is possible the “Cliff” is averted, but the “can” is still being kicked down the proverbial road on what is really necessary to change. And Saturn is in Scorpio through 2015, along with Uranus and Pluto in waxing square. In other words, the “Day of Reckoning” (Saturn in Scorpio) is still coming, and with it, there may be one more meltdown ahead before the financial system’s foundation is seriously rebuilt for long-term sustainability. And the cause of that meltdown may not even be in the hands of the USA. It seems to me that it is more in the hands of Europe next year, which is a subject covered in great detail in the Forecast 2013 Book, due out shortly.

Happy December.   The week starts off with a disseminating moon.  Probably still a bit of a hangover from  yesterday's Sun oppose Jupiter.   How were those discussions from the weekend and are they still hanging over us?   Oh, well, dust it off and keep on keeping on.
