Capricorn---Old is New(s)

Ever since Pluto went into Capricorn in 2008, I have stated that the focus will move away from Youth to Elders. While Pluto spent sixteen years in Peter Pan Sagittarius, "I won't grow old---even if it kills me" was the the mantra for individuals and industry. Plastic Surgeons made a car load of cash keeping everyone tight. Even TV series like "Nip&Tuck", "Sex&TheCity", "Survivor" made it clear--Youth rules. But now with Pluto in Capricorn the emphasis is moving towards seniors both their vulnerability and their value. This week especially "Being Old" has been highlighted by the Japanese disasters. I am sure all of us have heard that the reports that the population in Japan is an older demo. There are less children being born as the population ages. Additionally, in the epicenter area of Northern Japan is much older since many of the youth move to Tokyo further south. There has been a plethora of stories of elderly trying to outrun the Tsunami waves. Sadly, many were not successful but then the stories of the old man riding on a roof of a house ten miles out to sea. An old couple found on a log and then today, there was a report of an 82 year old woman outrunning the tsunami on her bicycle.

Pluto will be in Capricorn until 2023 so we have many more years to get our 'old' on. And I believe by the end of this cycle we will NOT be focused on collagen and face lifts as much as endurance and strength. And together we say, "Thank God!"

  1. Yes, and it is interesting to consider the additional implications of the concurrent movements of Saturn, Neptune, Jupiter, Chiron and the Nodes as Pluto proceeds through Capricorn. Perhaps you or your readers have some ideas about how these differing influences may all mesh.

  2. Gotta say it-- I kinda hate the Baby Boomers. Don't mind if they grow old, and glad if they'll put a sheen on it, as this country is so youth-0bsessed, but I sincerely hope that a greater sense of generosity and wisdom comes with it: they're always about Me, me me! Exhausting. Maybe with age they'll feel differently.

  3. Luna,
Yes, for me, all eyes are on Neptune. Neptune's move into Pisces is not small. The last time it was in his home sign was in the 1860's. Pick up Mountain Astrologer, there was a terrific article (can't remember the author right now) who reminded everyone about the need for Neptune to return to his home sign. As they indicated the Industrial Revolution did havok on the world and it was the kind voices of people like Charles Dickens to speak of the poor and those abused by the laws and the business system. Additionally, I was always piqued by the Astrological tie into the invention of photography and how it was completely timely with the American Civil War. The War was there for everyone to see! Perfect Neptune in Pisces. What will come up for us as it returns? It will be enlightening that is for sure.

  4. Yes, I know what you mean about the baby boomers. The "Me" piece to them is pretty darn strong. However, I have had an issues with sociologists categorizing of them. 1945-1960 is one long window for one group of people. I get why did it, because that was when there was a huge spike in population but truly the groups have needed to be broken up. Especially when you consider the planets. The first half of the group had Uranus in noisy Gemini, the middle group had Uranus in moody Cancer and the last part had Uranus in self interested Leo. Bill Clinton born in 46 is way different than Micheal Jackson born in 58. Also, Pluto which highly connected to Baby Boomers was in self interested Leo from 1945 Until 1957. In 57 Pluto moved into Virgo and that is completely more insecure than the group ahead of it. I have longed wished I could break up the groups but then, I'm an astrologer not a sociologist.

  5. Most excellent point about the Boomers, Tracy! I concurr. Sorry to broadbrush them all. And your points about Neptune are also well-taken-- with this new surge will hopefully also come more compassion for all, not just Boomers. We could all use some, as well as give more.

  6. Re: Neptune in Pisces, I'm super concerned about the polar caps melting also... Excessive rain here in LA, crazy stuff, though not as bad as 6 years ago, where we broke records... There was a great NYT piece a few months back about why the weather was acting to funny, has to do with warming at the top of the globe bringing the moisture to the middle...
