Crescent Moon

How are you feeling? Things are probably a wee bit lighter now that the moon is in Gemini (3/30 9:36am EDT) but of course they can be a bit more mental. The antenna is probably up for a little bit of gossip. I know my phone hit a slippery part of the universe and was ringing off the hook as people reached out to me to talk about nothing important. Typical Gemini energy. They just want to make the connect.

Gemini is about connection. How are your siblings? They'll probably reach out and talk to you.

Because this is the Crescent Phase you should be getting feedback on some of the seeds you planted on new moon. Crescent is about information coming to you.

For example, on New Moon this weekend I reached out to a few businesses for donations for a charity silent auction. One of the businesses , a luxury hotel, I wanted to reach out to, I needed to wait until this week so I wrote down their name on my list and thought a little bit about how I would approach them. Yesterday, I ran into someone who is also hitting up businesses and she informed me she was going after this one company and she said, "You know they own ..." and she mentioned the luxury hotel. I had no idea. Since she had already approached the main corporate person there was no need for me to go after the luxury hotel. Case closed.

Perfectly Crescent.

Look at see what is told or shared with you for the next day or so... it will have some significance to the seeds you planted on New Moon.

Moon In Taurus--Make it work for your Treasure Map

Yesterday, the moon entered Taurus (6:09am EDT March 28). Phew! I felt the energy shift in my house. Yes, we are all lippy and cheeky with one another but then what do you expect during the Aries cycle? But there has been a shift of energy---a "Let's get shit done." Or, if you will, "I'm done talking about it so let's get it done!"

If you have not finished your Treasure Map and have been fuzzy and unsure take the energy of Taurus to commit! GLUE it down! The shift of the moon should help you.

Listen, if I can get my 7 year old son to glue stuff down and make his map...then you can do it!

And by the way, when you are done, treat your self to some kind of spa like thingy...maybe a pedicure?

MERCURY/PLUTO SQUARE-- Stormy thoughts

As I indicated in my aries new moon article HERE, this 28 day cycle is colored by a square from Mercury to Pluto. Of course every year there are two periods where Mercury will square Pluto. When it happens we can feel the influence for maybe a week. A few days either side of the exact date. However, when the square happens on the New Moon the influence of that aspect is felt for the whole 28 day cycle ---with the big punch of it on the actual event date.

Early this morning 3/27 8:16 am (EDT) Mercury and Pluto got into it officially but for those of us who make Treasure Maps there is more to the tussle then what we feel today.

For many of us who began our Treasure Maps yesterday, we have had some lame, dark, gross thoughts come up. "Why the 'eff was my dad such a shit dad?" "What the 'eff is the problem with my lazy brother?" "Why do I have to do all the work?" "How come no one ever picks up the tab for me? That kind of thing. Now, as I indicated in my report it is vital that if any of those shitty thoughts come up .. YOU MUST address them on your map. Normally, I would say blow them off and just focus on the goodness that is your map. But not this year. Pluto is pointing the way and we need to heed it. I don't know if you have ever been fat, but I have and when I was I had 3 friends come up to me and say, "What the hell are you doing with your weight! Can you please get thin again!!" I laughed every time because they were right. I didn't get indignant. I didn't get hurt. I just took the energy I felt and said, "Yep you are right." Eventually I did lose the fat.

That is like this Pluto/Mercury square dance. If anyone says something to you or you dig in about anything.. put it on your map. And one way you can do it is by writing a note to yourself.

I recommended to someone who had an issue come up where she thought about her father and how lame he was and I said, "Write a note from your 'dad' to you. Have him apologize to you and have him tell you how thrilled he is that you healed so much from him in March of 2009. And then sign it from your dad and date it about 20 years ahead from now. sign it his name, and the year 2029. Put it in an envelope and seal it and put it on your map. No one needs to know who it is from but you!

Even if you don't make a map this year---if you have some gross stuff come up which obsesses your brain or just rattles you.. write a note to yourself and purge and clear. That's making Pluto work for you!

WHAT IS A TREASURE MAP? A treasure map is a collage made of photos, magazines pictures, words, pieces of things that make sense to you...whatever you want and you put them on a foam core board or just cardboard or just something strong that can handle the collage...you put them all together so you can look at it...it will be a MAP of what you want for the coming year.

WHAT DO YOU MEAN, "what do I want for the coming year?" Exactly what it says. Do you want a new house, a new living room, better health, stronger marriage, reconnect with people, a bigger family, a bigger community? Do you want to write your book? Do you want a new car? What is it you want? Do you even know what you want? If you are like many of us, you are so busy running around, taking care of everyone else that you might not have a fig of an idea what you want for your new year...that is the beauty of this process...you must sit down and figure it out...give yourself this time to do it. Be just that selfish..and dare to dream.

Why do we do it now and not January?

Treasure Maps are made during the Aries new moon. Aries new moon change from year to year and this year, it will take place on March 26, 2009 12:05pm EDT at 6 Aries 08.

They are made on Aries new moon, because that is the first sign of the zodiac. Aries is when you plant your seeds. It is the real beginning of the New Year. It should not be confused with the first day of spring, which is usually on March 19 or March 20. New moon means the sun and moon are in the same degree. For those who don't know much about astrology (which is totally okay) Aries is the sign of SIGHT. So, that's why it is so important to have pictures of what you want. You need to visualize it. Or if you don't do photos/pictures.. Put up words. It is just important for you to SEE THEM.

So, I'm going to be busy on March 26th, can I start it before the 26th?

NO.

Do I have to buy a bunch of magazines, I'm broke, can I just borrow some old ones from friends?

Personally, when I started my treasure maps I always did them with fresh new magazines. And in the old days, (not married, no children) I spent a lot of dough on them..only because I wanted lots of choices. But with time, I ended up only getting a few magazines. I never borrowed other magazines from friends..but I know that there are people who did it in previous years and I think they were happy with their results. So, it really is your call. What if I don't want magazine photos, can I just use my own pictures.. like my husband, my baby etc?Sure. I usually colored xerox them so that I would not wreck my originals. You can also paint what you want. Again it is your call.

Do I only focus on things?
Heck no! I would also encourage you to focus on beliefs and environments. Affirmations like “I’m abundant” or “I am always feeling loved” “My health is vibrant.” “My partner and I are always growing closer and closer.”

Is there any pattern i have to use when i put the photos or the words on my board?

No you can do it anyway you want. I will say that in previous years my friends and I used to use the feng shui baguas for my pattern. basically I would break up the board into 9 areas. A grid like this:

If you use the feng shui baguas, you will naturally cover all most all areas of your life..as you can see it is all represented there. But again, you don’t have to do it that way.

How much time do I have to build my map?

Ideally you should build your map during the new phase of Aries new moon which would take you from the March 26, 12:05pm (EDT) March 30, 12:24am (EDT.) But if you need more time, you can give yourself up until Full Moon (April 9). But ideally try to build it in the beginning.

Do I have to do it alone or can I do it with friends?

You can do it either way. I build mine with my 2 other friends. We are like family and it felt so right to do it with them. We started them together. I know that there are several people who have little parties where they invite those close to them over. I will say this, it is a lot of fun to do them with others..we would all pass around the magazines.. "Hey, I found a great beach bungalow does anyone need a beach vacation? Or it would be, "I have got to lose 10 pounds, any ideas what I should put on my map?" and low and behold someone will come up with a good suggestion.

Do i have to finish it all at one sitting?

No. Often I used to cut my stuff out with my friends. Maybe glue a little thing here or there and then take it home and finish it there over the course of a day or two.

Can my kids do it with me?

Yes! It is great for them to focus and think about what they want. Have them build their own maps. They also might give you their thoughts about what they think you should have in your life. Helps them to think beyond them, right?

Does it work?

Yep.

Okay. I don't want to sound like a spoilsport but I’m just not interested in building a collage, can I do something else?

Sure you can take a nice piece of orange paper and write down wishes during Treasure Map time. My wishes can sometimes feel like prayers and they are much more broad in my desires. But I will say this, I felt like I needed to switch to 'less is more' after several, several years of mapping. So, I had a lot under my belt. I would encourage new comers to make the actual maps. But if you really don't feel the call then just write your desires down. I like orange paper. So, vibrant. So aries.

Is it ok to have things continue over to the next year? Long-term, ongoing stuff that has progressed but needs to continue to progress?

Yes. Of course. But with a small caveat. My sense after doing these for years is that when something really takes time and doesn't gel in the first year. My experience is that there is something still not right yet. It might be something you are aware of...like one cyber friend shifted from her map from year one to year two by focusing on less things. That kind of energy is really important. What I mean.. is it is NOT important to put up less. It is important for you on the following year's map to go into your gut and say what do I REALLY WANT. You may need to shift something about your long range goals. My sense is that they need a wee bit refining or broadening. Just a thought. But definitely don't give up on the dream.

I'm really excited is there anything I can do now before Treasure Map to help my map?

Yes, yes, yes.... I said this in previous years and I'll remind everyone now. The period just before the Treasure Map is called the balsamic phase. Which is the end of the moon's phase. This is the phase when we get rid of stuff. Get rid of clutter. Get rid of things that are bugging us. Get rid of ick. Try if you can to clear some space in your life so you can be ready for the treasure map. Remember, Einstein said, "NO TWO THINGS CAN OCCUPY THE SAME SPACE." Read that several times... now ask yourself, do I have space in my house, my family, my time, my life in general for more? If the answer is no. Then start housecleaning! Clear out the stuff between now and the 26th. Now do you understand why it is important not to start your map before the new time?

By the way, I personally don't buy any of my supplies before the New starts. But I know some of you can't do that..so if you must buy before. Put it aside and don't touch it until the new. Don't thumb through magazines. Leave it all be.

Aries NEW MOON 2009---IT IS A BIG ONE

Tomorrow is the much anticipated Aries New Moon for 2009. For those of you who follow Treasure Maps, I encourage you to read about this year's New Moon. Why? Because as you build your map this year you might feel more unsettled than usual. You could feel pressured in a way that you have not felt before. You could also have your feelings hurt. You could feel rushed. You could want to get into a scrap with someone. What are all these feelings? Normally they don't happen on our glorious Aries New Moon....what is going on?

A LOT!

VENUS & MERCURY CHARMING THE PANTS OFF US

On Aries New Moon we will have a most beautiful conjunction of Mercury in Aries and Venus in Aries to the Sun and the Moon. Mercury rules our minds and thoughts. It is the way we communicate. It is our siblings, it is our neighbors it is our newspapers (Hey do those still exists?) it is the letters we write. It is emails. Of course, Venus is love and it is beauty. It is one of the “money” planets since Venus is the planet of values. Aries of course is the sign of breaking new ground (remember the plants bursting through the ground) Our thoughts will be grand perhaps rash. Our love will be quick and to the point. Our desires and emotions will be both hot and bothered. Clearly having those four planets together can bring great enthusiasm and could be fun. Accent on ‘could’ since at the same time, Aries is a fiery sign and when you get those four together someone will be inclined to play with matches! Who is shooting off their mouth? Who is sloppy with money? Who forgot to check their ego at the door? And who has gone overboard with their emotions?

Expect a lot of noise out of Wall Street on Aries New Moon. Some of it harsh given Venus and Mercury will also be making an aspect with Pluto! There could be a rash act. There might be something burned. On a personal level, expect some snippiness from friends or family, maybe a sharp word or two. Not necessarily out of mean-spiritedness but just more because people don’t feel they have time for a lot of bullshit. And they call it the way they see it. Which leads me to a bigger discussion.

This Treasure Map-Aries New Moon is one of the most potent maps I have seen. Perhaps ever. And if you can bear with me for a minute I would like to give a bit more astro talk than usual.

PLUTO POINTS THE WAY

Despite astronomers demoting Pluto to a dwarf planet, astrologers know it is Pluto that has caused all the financial wreckage since fall. You may remember back in August when I wrote (Virgo New Moon) that as soon as Pluto turned direct on September 8th and began its trek for Capricorn that he would not take any hostages. Pluto destroys that which is weak or corrupt so that it can be turned around and rebuilt. Since Pluto has not been in Cap since the 1700’s, it clearly had a lot of work to do! As it turned out Fannie and Freddie imploded on September 8th ---and the rest is history— dwarf planet indeed!

Now, in November Pluto finally moved into Capricorn where it is remaining until 2023. This means that every Treasure Map-(Aries New moon) runs a risk of being at odds with Pluto. Again, more astro talk--- Aries and Capricorn do not get along. They both want to be in charge, they both think they are sharper than each other. Aries thinks Capricorn is a stick in the mud and Capricorn thinks Aries is too hot headed and rash. When these two planets are in close degree to one another they make an aspect called a SQUARE. Simply said, Squares are a pain in the ass---they hurt. But more importantly, squares offer us a ‘crisis of opportunity’.

I have taken the time to look ahead at all the Treasure Map New Moons between now and 2023 and I have compared Pluto to the Sun/Moon each year. What I found is that there are six Treasure Map-(Aries New moons) that will be squared with Pluto. In 2009 Pluto will Square Sun/Moon with a 3 degree separation. In 2021 at 4 degrees, 2011, 2014 & 2018 at 5 degrees and 2016 at 1 degree. For the rest of the years Pluto and the Sun/Moon are too far apart to be in aspect. So, that means that out of 14 years there are 6 Treasure Maps that will have a Sun/Moon square Pluto and out of those 6 years, this new moon is one of the tightest square. Only 2016 will have a tighter orb.

So, what does that mean? It means that the Pluto square Aries New Moon-Treasure Maps will have a strong punch to them. Pluto’s conflict with Sun and Moon in Aries (along with Venus and Mercury this year) is pushing us to break free. Break new ground. Aries demands straight forward talk, straight forward thinking. Capricorn wants to be the executive in office with prestige, honor and recognition. Both of them want to be respected and both are survivors. Aries knows its survival comes from breaking into new territory and being a leader. Capricorn finds survival through its infrastructure, its bones, its can create security through conserving. We should expect this Treasure Map to bring out our own needs--- we will want to reach and stretch but at the same time we will also want security. That’s the rub. However, it is vital to remember that Pluto aspects always say one thing: “Change or be Changed.”

Third Quarter Moon...the Final of the Final

Next week is Aries NEW MOON. And of course that is the time for Treasure Mapping which we have discussed much on this blog.
And we have discussed that the time between now and then is the time for de-cluttering!

But before we get totally into a frenzy of cleaning and decluttering I think it is important on Third Quarter Moon to take a moment and contemplate some changes you want to make in your life.

Third Quarter Moon was in Sag (yesterday) and Sag is all about Goals, targets, aiming your arrow high and shooting it. Even though the moon has made the move into Capricorn we are still under the influence of the third quarter meaning Sag colors this influence. I suspect even people who have not been thinking about long range goals have had it come up already in the last 24 hours. Expect this influence to be felt until the 22nd when the moon moves into Balsamic phase.

Mountain Astrologer On the Newstand!

I am back from the darkside of the moon. In otherwords, I have completed a massive community outreach event that almost killed me. Not literally but figuratively enough to make it almost literal. It takes a ton of energy to get people to show up for free and do manual labor for 2 days. Yikes. Done.

Anyway, when I lose my center like I do when I am on a big project the quickest way for me to find myself is to go turn to astrology. Luckily, in the last week I received my new issue (April/May) of Mountain Astrologer. I dug in.

The cover story on Barack Obama's chart is a very good read. A lot of decent discussion about Neptune in the 10th, which we all have heard over and over again during primaries... ("I don't trust him.." blah, blah. Whatever.

But what I found interesting is the angle that the author, Frank Clifford took that the president's natal chart lines up with the climate of the country. And in this case Neptune in the 10th reflects America's disillusionment.

"...we can recognize a disheartened country that has lost faith in its leadership (Sun in Leo square Neptune."

And he goes on to talk about the country's resources and how they tie to Obama's Neptune in Scorpio in the 9th------ overseas trouble, anyone? (I wrote back in November that I put my money on Pakistan troubles cough, cough.)....

Anyway, I highly, highly recommend you run out and get it. It is one of the better analysis of his chart I have read.

Virgo Full Moon is upon us. Now I am the first to tell you my Sag Sun does not always rub well with Virgo. So, I am not without biases. But even with that caveat, Sun Moon opposition (all Full Moons) between Virgo and Pisces has an extra little punch that can not be second guessed---and who do you blame? Yep.... Uranus.
Virgo is all about order, dotting i's.. crossing t's. It likes things that it can see, feel, hear, taste..you get the drill.. it likes to experience it so it knows it is real. Pisces on the other hand likes it both ways... likes to see things, knows things are real but then it likes to evaporate them just like a magician... "The rabbit is there.. and now it's not." Pisces brings the unreal quality to even the most harden concrete Virgoan practicality. In short... "man makes plans and Pisces makes unplans." And with this full moon we have got Kookie, Uranus throwing in some chaos for no other reason that he can.
So, you think you have everything planned. It all makes sense. And then at the last minute someone with a drug problem or someone with an illusion problem comes and messes with those plans.. and yes, you CAN be both of those people. And then from out of nowhere someone else walks into the situation and makes it even crazier.
I would say that with Uranus on the Sun opposite the moon, the moon is busy emoting. And the Sun is trying to help the moon.. "what do you need? Tell me, I'll help". And just then someone walks up and says, "Sorry no helping right now you gotta do this..." And you are now on this weird wonky turn of events going to all kinds of places and guess what? At the end of it... you might not even need that thing you thought you needed. It is all not necessary. Isn't that perfectly Uranus. Hang in there, the energy is weird but try as you can to find the humor.

oh...my goodness.....are we ready for it?

I just have to post something about my previous post. When I indicated that our emotions will bu up and down and all over the place I really meant it. But at the same time even I didn't know how accurate I was speaking. The last few days I have heard people just feeling or acting completely unhinged. I saw some weird behavior at my son's school not just by kids who are always canaries in the coal mine for big astro bumpies. But also staffers and adults. People letting people know what they think about all kinds of shit. Even when those people may not have wanted to hear it and then there is a retalliation and more stuff comes back. My husband said he saw people at his work really lose it. And then I thought about that guy losing it at a church yesterday (church---perfectly pisces). And we're not even at the FULL MOON!! Remember, everyone... breathe! Take breaths where ever you can. And perhaps by the end of the Full Moon we'll be more settled. oh, wait a minute that is when Mars moves into Pisces..oh, lord, never mind...

How are you surfing?

This is a little check in post. We are in the First Quarter of the Pisces lunar Cycle and as we discussed on new moon--this cycle is all about our emotions. Pisces rules the seas and we will feel the highs and the lows. The key is to let it come up and through you. Don't hang on to it. Do you think you could stop that wave above? No. The only way to survive it is to either dive deep under it or ride it. But if you just sit there and do nothing it will crash on you. And trust me, big waves crashing hurt. So, how are you riding your waves? I am bringing this up now because I find the gibbous moon can be a little bit cranky in the Pisces cycle. It will be Gibbous all weekend and --- Then of course it will be full moon which has its own drama.

So, stay on alert. I think emotions might be UP big time for the next few days and just work as best as you can through it all. Don't hang onto them...meaning if you wake up in a down mood do not assume at 10am that you will be depressed at 11pm. You could be down at 10, depressed at noon, tired at 2, rested at 4, curious at 6, uplifted at 8 and happy by 10pm. But the important part is to feel all of them!

Interesting note on next week's full moon.

David Crook over at Stellar Insights has put up a thought about next week's full moon on March 10. He notes how the nodes line up with DC and of course the echo off last September's full moon (Remember that one? two words Fannie Freddy)

The March 10 Full Moon is almost a mirror image of the 9/15/08 Full Moon that timed the full-blown financial crisis. That Pisces Full Moon conjoined the big Saturn-Uranus opposition, and squared Pluto. This Full Moon in Virgo, also aligns with the signature Saturn-180-Uranus, and features the Moon's Nodes on the meridian in D.C.- which suggests a an eclipse-like effect. Moreover, on closer inspection, we see the Moon-Sun axis directly on the most important mundane midpoint- the AS/MC (Ascendant/Midheaven), which signifies 'at this time and place'. Therefore, the Full Moon is a flash-point for major events in the US. And if our speculative chart for the financial crisis is indeed radical, this Full Moon may trigger/mirror a literal reaction in the economy.

Anyway, go check him out for more data and the chart. I hope to be able to put up my own full moon but like I said I'm so swamped these days I might not get to it....

Venus Retrograde---The Bitch sure knows how to get our attention!

Back on the Pisces New Moon I wrote HERE that we had some energy from Venus coming our way:

In addition to our antenna being up high and our hearts needing to vibe our
way through this cycle we have one other little trick in the month. Venus
is turning retrograde on March 6. This is not extraordinary since it
retrogrades about every year and half but it is interesting that it is taking
place in the sign Aries. Aries is the sign that knows what it wants, knows
where it needs to go, and doesn’t shirk from any hard work or challenges to get
what it wants. Simply said, Venus is the planet of love and
desire. And here Venus is going backwards in the sign of Self
interests. Is it possible that we might think we know what we want
but we need to go backwards a bit and re look at our past for a moment or
two? Venus will go direct in mid April so it is not like we have to
have our head in the sand forever. But perhaps we are being asked to slow it all
down for a moment to see what we really want. Or more specifically, Venus
is the planet of Values. Perhaps what we really need to value will not get
our attention until this retrograde is complete. It is also highly worth
noting that Venus is the planet of money and resources. I believe
retrograde Venus could do havoc on the USA stock market and or Department of
Treasury. God knows the Federal Reserve may shows cracks.
But
however it plays out, Venus is asking us to please slow down a minute and find
out what we love.

And so it is that on this day when Venus turned her ass around and began to
go backwards that we end this week with the lowest stock levels in 12 years.. no shit,
sherlock.

The Tidal Pull of the 12th House

Last night I experienced the power of the 12th house in a most unusual manner. I watched the final episode of The Bachelor. For those of you who do not live in North America--you can learn more about this show HERE. For the rest of us, my apologies for even bringing it up here on an Astrology blog but actually there is a salient astro lesson to be found--and it lies in the 12th house.

In astrology there are 12 houses in the birth chart. Each house represents an area of life and it coincides with the 12 signs and 10 planets. For example, let's say you are a Taurus. You know a lot about resources, money and love. But let's say you are not a Taurus but you have a ton of planets in the 2nd house. Then you are getting some of the same lessons as Taurus. Or if you are NOT a Taurus and you don't have any planets in the 2nd house but you have got a pronounced Venus with a bunch of aspects from other planets. Then you are getting the Taurus energy. There are at least three ways for you to that lesson or energy.

Okay--now let's look at the 12th house. The 12th house is the last house of the chart. This is the house of our unconsciousness, the house of loose ends. This is the house of victimness but also self undoing (an important note). In astrology it is tied to the sign Pisces. And it is tied to the planets Jupiter and Neptune. As you know from my new moon article HERE we are currently in the Pisces cycle. So, Piscean issues are up. Also feeling like a victim. Which I think if anyone who still has stocks in the stock market is probably really feeling like there is a rip tide and they can't get out of it. Especially yesterday which had a huge crash. Anyway, back to my point. As of right now we are really feeling and seeing the Piscean energy.

Now in my own personal chart whenever there are planets in late Aquarius and all of Pisces they are falling into my natal 12th house. And when those planets make that move let me tell you I feel it. My unconscious acts like a tide, pulling and tugging on me such that I have no control of it. Well, perhaps I am speaking in hyperbole. But, it is really hard to get out of the way of the pull! Case in Point.. Last night's Bachelor.

I have not seen one minute of this TV show. Not in the ten years or so that it has been on TV. None of it. And last night, I had a little TV on in the background while I washed dishes. I was not paying attention but I kept it on while I went to my computer to answer emails and begin various writings. (Including some pieces for this blog). I don't know when it happened but somewhere in that time I realized that This show, The Bachelor was on my TV. I kind of glanced at it but continued my work, but I was slowly seeing my attention go more and more to the flickering images on the screen. Then I got up and moved to living room couch, "Just for a minute" to focus on it. Well, that "minute" turned into two hours later. I completely got sucked into it. Again, like a tidal pull. I could NOT believe it. And when my husband returned home after being gone for a few days I actually made him watch it with me! I was hooked.

I knew in my gut there was NO reason for this stupid show and I really mean stoooopid show to hook me. What could be the answer? Well, I peeked at my chart and saw that one planet has made a move into my 12th house in the last couple of days and last night one other made the move. I had NO control of myself!

It also probably didn't hurt that this particular episode of The Bachelor had a decidedly Piscean energy totally focused on love found, love lost and love renewed or at least in questionable renewal and a whole helluva a lot of Self Undoing... if you didn't see the show let me tell you the guy as my husband likes to say, "stepped on his own johnson." Oh, and he sure cried a lot. Another Piscean energy.

Anyway, my point..rambling yes, but still a point. Do yourself a favor and look at when planets move into your 12th house. Watch and see if you feel yourself pulled into tides or currents. It is hard to get out of the tide but if you can at least note it, you might be able to navigate any self undoing wounds.
